By the time Christina, Taylor, David and Michelle had gotten back from the hospital, it was nearly four in the morning. It had taken nearly twenty minutes to convince Michelle to go to a doctor to get checked for anything, and another twenty just to get her down to the car. David had to carry her most of the way, for she was crying and shaking so much. They had to wait at least an hour and a half in the emergency room, and then it took another hour when she finally got in.
“I’m so tired.” Christina said.
“Everone is.” David said.
“Yeah.” Taylor said, flipping on a dim kitchen light.
“We’ll talk in the morning.” Christina said to Michelle, who hadn’t said much thw whole time. Christina didn’t blame her.
“Michelle, do you want to stay here?” Taylor asked.
She shrugged.
"Stay with me tonight." David said.
Michelle looked at him warily.
"I'll sleep on the couch." He said.
"Okay." Michelle said quietly, walking slowly towards the door.
"I'll call you guys in the morning." David said, escorting Michellel out the door and across the hall. Taylor shut their door, then turned around a leaned against it with a sigh.
"Oh my." he said.
"Yeah." Christina said.
Christina sniffed, then wiped her eyes.
"You okay?" He asked, walking over.
"Yeah...No." She said.
"I never imagined....Michelle." He said.
"I know. I never imagined it....at all." Christina said. Her breath caught in her throat, and her eyes filled with tears. She had never been so scared in her life. “I just...” She sniffed and wiped her eyes. “I just never thought it would happen to one of us.”
“I know.” Taylor said, walking over to her.
“I’m so scared.” She said.
Taylor put his arms around her in a hug. “You don’t have to be.”
“If Michelle couldn’t fight someone off, I....I don’t think I could.” She said, tears streaking down her face.
“No no....Don’t think like that.” Taylor said.
“But Taylor...."
“I’m going to stay with you ever second....for as long as you want me to.” He said.
“You would do that?” She said.
“Of course.” he said, looking down at her.
“Thank you.” She said, sniffing.
“No problem.” He said. “I’ll just sleep on the couch, and follow you to class, and everthing.” He said.
“Really?”
“Yep. Anywhere you want me to go.” He said.
“Taylor, this means a lot to me.” She said, hugging him again.
“Well, you mean a lot to me.” he said.
“You mean a lot to me too.” She said.
He smiled, then looked at the clock.
“It’s nearly five.”
“Yeah. No classes for me today.” She said.
“Then no classes for me either.”
A few days later, Christina was sitting in her Biology class. The teacher had just given an assignment that they would need a partner for. Christina didn’t really know anyone in her class, so she hung back while other students picked partners. She felt so uncomfortable no knowing many people, but she didn’t really know how to be outgoing and nice. Suddenly a girl with red hair sat down next to her.
“Hi! I’m Drew.” She said. “Want to be partners?’
“Uh, I’m Christina. Sure.” She said, still slightly surprised.
“Great!” Drew said.
Christina thought it was a little strange of this girl to just walk up and want to be partners, but Christina was in a little of daze as it was.
The whole thing that had happened a few nights ago was still bothering her most of time. She just couldn’t shake the eerie feeling, and she felt like she was always looking over her shoulder.
Drew was tall, around 5’9”, very lanky, with long red hair that was really pretty. She wore jeans and a green top that was tight and stuck to her every curve. Her green eyes were bright, and she was very loud and seemed to be wild.
An hour later, they were finished planning what they would do. Christina thought that Drew was really nice and outgoing.
“So.” Drew said happily. “I’ve seen you with a guy around campus. What’s his name...Taylor?”
“Uh, yeah.” Christina said with a smile.
“Is he your boyfriend?’
“Yeah.” Christina said.
“How long?”
“Uh, about a month or so.”
“Oh. Well you’re together a lot.”
“Well, we live across the hall from one another.” Christina said.
“Oh isn’t that nice.” Drew said. “You must see a lot of one another.” She said.
“Well, yeah.”
“What’s his last name?” Drew asked, her green eyes sparkling. She seemed to Christina that she was asking a lot of questions about Taylor, but perhaps she was just the curious type. Besides, she didn’t want to give up her new friendship.
“uh, Hanson.”
“Oh. That’s a good name.” Drew said.
“Good for what?”
“What?”
“Uh, nothing.”
A few minutes later, the bell rang, and class was dismissed.
“I’ll contact you.” Drew said. Christina watched her leave, and was thankful that Drew chose a different exit than the one Taylor was waiting at.
“Okay.” Christina said with a half smile as she picked up her books.
She waited purposely a few moments, then walked to the door to see Taylor waiting outside.
“Hi.” She said.
“Hey there.” She said. She looked around to see if anyone was watching, the stood on her tip toes to give him a kiss on the cheek. She still felt a little nervous about kissing in public. She almost felt like she would be reprimanded.
“Chris, relax.”
“What?” She asked.
“No one saw.”
“I know.” She said, grabbing his hand.
“It’s okay, hon.” He said with a laugh. “I’m your boyfriend.”
“I know.” She repeated, dragging him down the hall.
He just smiled and followed her.
