Christina chuckled to herself as she watched Taylor stare at the screen. He didn't even move when she poked his ribs, which she had discovered earlier that day was his ticklish spot. He didn't budge. They were watching a movie, and he found it fascinating. So fascinating, in fact, that he hadn't budged in over an hour.
"Taylor…Taylor…" She said, waving her hand in front of his face.
"What?" He said, and jumped slightly.
"You look so funny!" She said.
"What?" He asked, looking at her defensively.
"Well you haven't even acknowledged anyone's presence for over an hour!"
"Well, I haven't seen this movie."
"Taylor?" She said.
"What?" He asked, looking over at her.
"Its Sleepless in Seattle."
"So?" He relied, looking at his hands.
Well, it's a chick flick. I'm surprised you've never even heard of it." She said.
"Well, I haven't. Besides, I think it's a good movie so far." He said, pretending to pout.
Christina chuckled again, and then sat back on the couch. He was so funny. It was an evening about three weeks after their big date in late October, and they were in Christina's apartment, watching their weekly Sunday movie. It hadn't been declared official, but they had been getting together every Sunday for three weeks to watch an old movie together. They soon had The Sunday Night Movie, and they enjoyed it very much.
For the past couple of weekends, they hadn't gone on any real dates, but mostly they had just hung out together, at her apartment, or gotten drinks or food after and between classes. He had re arranged his schedule so that they had their Spanish class and English classes together, so they had a couple of days were they were together nearly all day, which suited them fine. They had been on a few other outings, which were mostly just double dates with David and Michelle.
They had made it into their fraternity and sorority, so they were in a way celebrating that, and it felt to Christina that she had a giant weight lifted off her shoulders. She no longer had to worry about all the girls he would get, for she would be at the parties to see. Not that she would do anything, but still.
Christina sighed, and was bored. She looked around the room, and saw that it was only ten 'o clock. She didn't have any classes until ten the next morning, and neither did he, so they still had plenty of time. She looked at the screen, but quickly got bored with movie she had seen a million times, then decided to try and get Taylor's attention.
She scooted closer to him on the couch, and laid her head on his shoulder. He looked over at her, then brought his hand up to affectionately stroke her hair, then turned his attention back to the movie, which still had at least forty- five minutes to go. She slumped down beside him, and tried to watch the movie again.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom." She said, getting up.
"Okay." He said, eyes still glued to the screen.
She got up, and padded to the bathroom. She was wearing her slippers. She looked down at them. Taylor was the only person besides Michelle to ever see those slippers. She smiled at them, the florescent yellow birds smiling back. Christina was wearing them that night with a pair of her flannel pants, along with a comfy long sleeved t- shirt. She and Taylor dressed quite casually during their movies, with him in socks, flannel pants, and a sweatshirt.
She looked around the bathroom. She didn't really have to go, she just wanted to get up and have a change of scenery. Christina picked up a basket of lip glosses that Michelle had practically stockpiled in the bathroom. She sorted through the basket, rummaging through all the different flavors.
Watermelon…ick….grape…maybe…chocolate-mint…passion…fruit…vanilla…cherry…she thought to herself as she looked through them. She smiled when she saw the cherry one. She wondered what they all tasted like. She had never kissed Taylor with anything on her lips such as lip gloss or lipstick, so she pulled off the lid and looked at it. It was clear, so she didn't have to worry about her lips turning some weird color. She leaned over to the mirror, and applied a little. I wonder what Taylor will do…she thought.
She reached over to the drawer, and pulled out her brush, and brushed her hair for a few minutes, trying to get it smoothed down a bit.
"I wonder what's taking her so long." Taylor said to himself. He walked out of the family room and down to the bathroom, where the door was only half shut. He peeked in, and saw Christina, running a soft brush through her hair while looking at various bottles and makeup on the shelves. He watched her for a few minutes. She had her hair over her shoulder in front of her, and was slowly running the brush through it, while absentmindedly looking around. In the mirror, he could see her soft brown eyes staring at the wall, and she was sitting on her hip, a tweety bird slipper wrapped around her ankle.
He walked up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. She jumped a little, then turned around and smiled at him. He pulled her to him in an embrace, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, where her hair swung near her waist.
"You have really soft hair." He said, picking up a strand and winding it between his fingers.
"Thanks." She said with a laugh. He noticed the brush still in her hand.
"Can I brush it?" He asked, pulling away from her.
"What?" She said, thinking that she hadn't heard him.
"I asked you if I could brush it." He said.
"Oh…well, I guess." She said.
"Thanks." He said.
"Let's go out to the couch." She said, taking his hand and leading him to the TV room. He sat down, and motioned for him to sit in front of her on the couch. She did so, and he took the brush from her, and slowly started to pull it down her hair. Christina closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of him gently running the brush down her head. He was being very slow and gentle, which she thought felt great. She let out a sigh, and just relaxed as much as possible.
They watched the rest of 'Sleepless in Seattle', and he brushed her hair the whole time, even after all the knots were out.
"Thank you." She said, leaning back on him.
"Was my pleasure." He said, touching her cheek.
They both sighed, and lay still for a few minutes when Taylor unwillingly broke the silence.
"Chris?"
"Hmmm?" She mumbled, turning her head slightly.
"I have to go. We both have classes tomorrow."
"Aw…" She moaned.
"I know, but I really should be going." He said, getting up.
"Yeah, I guess so. Though it's only ten." She said.
"Yeah, but I have to do some work on that homework from English."
"I guess I should to." She said, walking to the door with him. She didn't really want him to go, but she knew they should. She looked at him, then grabbed his shoulders, pulling him down to her. She kissed him hard, and entangled her fingers in his hair. She pulled away from him.
"Well, guess you should be going." She said, turning to go into the kitchen.
Taylor paused. He looked at her, with her soft hair trailing down her back, and her warm slippers. She leaned against the doorway looking at him longingly. "Okay, what's one more movie?" He said, putting his things down on the table.
"My thoughts exactly." She said walking towards him.
He picked her up and carried her to the couch, where he dropped her down, and then joined her shortly. He kicked off his shoes, and pulled off his coat. Taylor leaned down until he was almost on top of her, supporting himself on an elbow, then kissed her again.
"Mmmm…Cherry." He said between kisses.
"You noticed." Christina said, smiling devilishly.
"How could I not?" He asked, then put a stop to their needless 'chattering' by pressing his lips against hers again. They hadn't really made out so far, it had just been a few innocent kisses here, another there.
David had been bothering him about trying some exercise of his tongue, and well, Taylor thought, no better time. He opened his mouth slightly, Christina following his lead. He carefully slid his tongue in her mouth, when he suddenly felt hers there too, meeting him halfway. He smiled inside, out of surprise that she would have the same idea. They touched tongues, then went back to regular kissing for a few minutes, when he decided to try his luck again.
He opened his mouth again, and then ran his tongue along her teeth, which were now close to perfect, thanks to three years with braces. He had seen the photos, courtesy of Michelle.
They pulled apart, and she looked up at him and giggled.
He looked at her panicked. "What? Did I do it wrong? Was it that bad?" He said, looking down at her wide-eyed.
"No, it's just that it was…well…and experience for me. No one had ever done that to me." She said, looking down.
"Well, I must say, that's the first time I've done that, so we were both amateurs at that one." He said with a laugh. He sat back on the couch, and she tucked her feet under her and sat up also.
"Um, Taylor, if you don't mind my asking…" She trailed off.
"Yes?" He said, nudging her.
"Well…what aren't you an amateur at?" She said quietly.
He paused, then looked at her and gave a nervous smile.
"Well…"
She looked at him expectantly.
"Gosh, heh, well, not a lot of things. I've never really had a relationship, I mean, I don't know about a lot of things." He said.
"Oh." She said.
"I was home schooled, so I only met girls when David took me to parties. Even then I couldn't date until I was sixteen. I never really had an interest to, I don't know why. I guess all the nice girls stayed home from those." He said with a laugh.
Christina smiled. "Go on."
"Well, I did date, but only like, six or seven times. I only went out with most of them once or twice, and nothing got serious. Either they decided to walk on me, or they wanted to sleep with me, neither which I let them do, so I guess I've never really been close to any girls." He said.
"How about you?" He asked, nudging her.
"Well, I went to high school, and I didn't date guys who said 'funner', and it didn't take much for me to usually be single." She said with a laugh. And Michelle dragged me to a lot of parties too, and I dated also, but not much, and I didn't kiss on the first date, which luckily, was all they wanted out of me. One date. So, I've never had any relationships in high school, and in junior high, forget it." She said with a laugh.
"That's sad." He said, putting his arm around her shoulders and giving them a squeeze.
"Nah, I didn't want to date those block heads anyway." She said. She looked at him, then her gaze fell to his stringy blonde hair, which fell just above his shoulders.
"I like your hair." She said, touching a shiny strand.
"Thanks." He said, looking at her strangely. "I've been meaning to get it cut. Do you think I should cut it all off?" He asked.
"No! Definitely not!" She said.
"Okay, I'll just get it trimmed." He said.
"Can I do it?" She asked him.
Taylor gave her a sideways glance. "You'd want to?"
"Yeah, why not?" He said, and got up.
"Cool." She said, and got up, leading him to the bathroom
"Have you ever done this before?" He said, looking at her.
"Well, yeah." She said, stopping in the doorway.
"Okay." He replied.
She just smiled. She turned to the bathroom counter to get out the scissors. Christina had been rummaging through the draws for a few minutes when she felt Taylor softly lay his hands on her sides from behind. She sighed and leaned back against his warm figure. He placed a soft kiss on her shoulder, and then moved up and placed one on her neck, just above her shoulder. He felt her shudder then relax, so he tightened his arms around her. He kissed her again, higher this time.
Christina was in heaven. The feeling of his kisses on her shoulders and neck was enough to make her want to melt into him. She let out a soft moan of approval at his newfound discovery as he finally reached her cheek.
"So are we really serious about this?" He whispered into her ear. Christina's eyes flew open, and she squirmed in his arms.
"What?" He asked, letting her go.
"Um, you just startled me." She said, her brow furrowing.
"What did I do?" He asked, confused.
"I don't know." She said, not really sure if she wanted to share this information with him.
He laughed, not really knowing what she meant.
"When you did that…oh, this is embarrassing." She said.
"Hey, I shared that bathroom thing with you." He said.
"Oh, okay." She said, and continued. "You might think this is funny, and Michelle would just die if she ever found out about this…" She said, leaning against the counter.
"Go on." He urged. "I won't tell a soul."
"Okay. Well, when you did that…oh, I'd better explain a little…you see, um, females all have a certain thing that excites them." She said, twisting her hands together.
"Like…winning something?" He said, looking at her.
"Um, no." She sighed. "I meant like, excites them. You know, EXCITES them." She said, emphasizing her words.
"Oh." He gave a nervous laugh, then looked at her. "Oh, like THAT. I'm sorry, I didn't know that you…You know…heh, god, I'm sorry." He said.
"No, no, it's okay, really it is."
"I didn't know. Gosh, that's never happened before."
"Yeah, it's not your fault." She said, giving him a hug. "Just try and be understanding, okay? That can be really hard to deal with." She said, laying her head on his chest.
"Yeah, I can see that." He said, laughing. "So, are you serious about this?" He asked, looking down at her. He had been planning on bringing this up soon, why not now?
"Yeah, I mean…she trailed off when she caught his gaze. "We aren't talking about the hair cut, are we?" She said, looking up at him.
He shook his head. "Oh." She said. He looked at her, and raised his eyebrows expectantly.
"Yes. Yes, I am. I mean, I am if you are." She said, looking down.
"Yes. I am. So what do you say. Do you…" He took a deep breath. "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" He asked her.
She looked up at him and smiled. "Yes, I do." She said.
He smiled, and kissed her on the lips, their tongues meeting together. They broke apart, and just stood, hugging in her bathroom, past ten on a school night.
