The girls found out from a girl named Melissa what they had to do in order to rush and be accepted.
They would have to do several silly dares, and maintain a B average, and a few other little things. The dangerous missions were now illegal on their campus because of all the injuries they caused.
The whopper was that they had to go to a lodge in two weeks and the guys and the girls had to go skinny-dipping in the steamy water for one hour. Some of the other people were going to go to, but mostly it was for the people who were rushing.
The main idea of being in the sorority was to know how to play and enjoy music and have and maintain a good friendship with on another. None of it sounded to hard for Chris or Michelle, so they said they would do it.
The sorority was pretty small, and it consisted of only a few other girls; Melissa, whom was a dark hired president, and a senior; Sarah, who was vice president, and a tall, lanky, brown haired junior, Samantha, a short, blond, smart, junior; Andrea, who was also short, blond, and not as smart, and who was a daredevil sophomore, and Alyssa, a black haired, artsy senior. The girls who were rushing were Jessica, a skinny, brown haired freshman who liked to talk, Jennifer, a tall, blond freshman and of course Michelle and Chris.
Emily had also explained to them that they would each have to adopt a special guy from the fraternity that was theirs. He could be a friend, boy friend, or whatever. The girl could choose him, or he could choose you. Whichever came first. The idea was to have one special guy to confide in, and one to do stuff if your girlfriends were busy. Over all, you were to help each other out.
"It sounds pretty easy." Michelle was saying to Jessica after the girls all broke up again.
"Yeah, I really hope they like me. My roommate is driving me nuts. I was hoping that I could move in with another member, because I Hate her! She's a cheerleader, and she and her friends always tease me. I hate it." Jessica said.
"That's mean."
"Yeah, I know, and she's the only person I know too." Jessica said.
"Well, now you know me." Michelle said.
"Yeah, I do." She said with a smile.
"Hey, that one guy over there is really fine, don't you think?" Jessica asked, pointing towards the patio.
"Yeah, I think I heard David call him Jeff. He's rushing too."
"I don't know if I can handle skinny dipping in front of all these hot guys. And is David your boy friend?"
"Ha, no I wish. I really like him. And don't worry, the water will be steamy. I hope." Said Michelle with a nervous laugh.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The party was going very well, and Christina was getting along great with all of the sisters, and had been mingling with them for around two hours. She hoped they would let her and Michelle in. This was an excellent chance to make some friends, and that was what they really needed.
Christina was wondering around the party about an hour later, and she was looking out onto the patio where there were some people dancing to an old song by Fiona Apple called "the first taste' She had loved the artist as a child, and knew the song. She stood and sang along for a moment when some one tapped her on the shoulder.
She jumped and turned around to see Taylor behind her.
"Oh, you scared me!" she said, smiling at him.
"Sorry." He mumbled, flushing slightly.
"That's ok. So, uh, how do you like the party?"
"It rocks! I already met some pretty cool guys." He said.
"Yeah, me too. It seems kind of easy to get in, and speaking of that, I really hope I do!" she replied.
"Uh, easy? Don't you have to do the skinny dipping thing? That doesn't sound so easy." He said with a nervous laugh.
"Oh, yeah, I don't know how I could have forgotten about that! I don't know what I'm going to do! I must say, I've never been skinny dipping, and I'm really nervous!" She exclaimed.
"Ah, don't be. You'll be fine."
"I hope."
"My brothers and I used to dare each other to do stupid things like that, and I lived through, it once, so I guess I can do it again." Taylor said.
"Oh, really?" She said with a laugh.
"Um I came over to ask you something."
"What?" Christina asked, now very interested.
"Do you want to dance, Uh, I mean the right way?"
"Ok…" she said slowly.
"What's wrong?"
"I never really went to any dances in school, so I'm not all that great."
"Well, I've never been to one, but there's a first time for every thing, right?"
"Right, heh, I guess…" Christina said.
He took her hand and led her out onto the patio where about eight other couples were dancing. He made her face him, and then gently put his hands around her waist. She reached up and put her arms around his neck and he pulled her close to him. They were now dancing to an old Aerosmith song, 'I don't wanna miss a thing' It was really a lovely song. She promised to herself that she would never forget this was the first song she danced with Taylor.
I don't wanna miss one
smile
I don't wanna miss one
Kiss
Christina was really enjoying this. It felt so good, so right, so…oh, it just felt wonderful to be in his arms. She just couldn't describe it.
Lyin' close to you,
in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment,
forever
Every moment spent with you,
is a moment I treasure
Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
Cause I'd miss you babe,
and I don't wanna miss a
thing.
Taylor pulled her a little closer, so that she had her head lying on his left shoulder. She inhaled his scent and closed her eyes, wanting to stay like this forever, like the old love song said.
Even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never
do
I'd still miss you babe,
And I don't wanna miss a
thing.
The song soon faded, and the two pulled apart, their faces only inches apart. He leaned closer and closer, and- Suddenly, she got scared. She pulled back quickly, and smiled a crooked smile, her heart fluttering.
"Dance with me again?" he whispered in her ear with a soft pout. This sent shivers up her spine.
"Thanks, Taylor, but it's late, and I think I should be getting home."
"Ok, yeah, I guess you're right. But if you're going home, so will I. Just to make sure you get in all right. Besides, if you aren't here to have fun with me, I should go home to."
"Aw, make me feel guilty then." She said, giving him a light shove as they walked inside. Her stomach practically lurched into her throat. She couldn't believe how sweet he was being.
"Yeah well, it's true."
" Thanks. Now we gotta go find Michelle. Oh, there she is, talking to David! I think those two really hit it off."
"Yeah, they do look cute together, don't they?" He said, grinning.
You mean like we would? She thought wishfully, looking longingly at him. He suddenly turned around and saw her looking at him. He smiled and said,
"I'll call you?"
"Yeah." She managed to breathe.
He just smiled at her.
Soon, they were all headed home. The guys followed behind the car closely, while Michelle and Christine had their own conversation.
"I think he was going to ask me to be his girl thingy, but he chickened out. He was acting very nervous. He shouldn't have been. I would have said yes." Michelle babbled.
"Surprise, surprise," Christine said, under her breath.
"Say, speaking of that, you and Taylor looked pretty comfy out there on the dance floor."
"Yeah, well…" she trailed off.
"Yeah well what? Chris, I know you're scared, but David says he had know Taylor for years and he's cool and won't take advantage of you like all those other guys. He really likes you. He told David. Chris, he's a sweetie. If you let him go I will kick your sorry ass from here to the moon. What are you so scared of?" Michelle asked.
" I'm just scared that he has more experience with stuff than me, and I don't want to look stupid."
"That's just it! He doesn't!"
"huh?"
"His first kiss was his cousin's friend when he was ten, and his brothers made him. He hasn't had a girlfriend either. Sounds bad, right? Well, he really wanted a meaningful relationship, you know, long term? Well he clammed up, and was homeschooled so he never met any girls he liked, and maybe you can open him up. At least try, Chris. I just know he'll let you. Just try. For me?" She asked.
"I'll try. But I can't promise anything. Yet."
"Now that's the spirit!"
