Artemis was the goddess of the hunt, chastity, moon, wild animals, and the chase. She was granted, by Zeus, eternal viginity. Companion of the Nymphs, and the Swinger of tides. Lions, bears, wolves, and birds were sacred to her. Daughter of Zeus and Leto, twin sister of Apollo. She was born one day before her brother and helped Leto to Delos, where the day old goddess delivered Apollo. Artemis was a protector of children and patroness of women in childbirth. She was the guardian of harbors and roads. She was tall and imposing with golden curls. She was a Goddess of Contradictions, the divinity of healing, and bringer of diseases.
