Here is a list of things you will need to do this project:
White Glue or Gluestick
scissors
Card stock, posterboard, or some kind of heavy paper (paper plates work if you're desperate)
Markers
Cotton balls
Decorating materials yarn, sequins, gold cord, bric-a-brac, glitter, glitterglue or whatever you happen to have on hand.

Putting it all together:
cut out 3 triangles 1 large and 2 identical small ones
cut out a head and 2 hand shapes (Just plain circles work nicely)
Let the kids make a mess glueing them together and put them away while you take a milk and cookie break..

After the angel-shape is as dry as they'll let you get it, let the kids be creative in decorating. Use the cotton balls to daub on glue and as hair and fringe around the edge of the dress. It looks great.

You can glue or tie some yarn or cording or ribbon etc. to the back, and if you're feeling creative, bend half a glittery gold pipe cleaner into a halo and attatch to the back of the head.. After it's dry hang it on the tree.
Big hugs all around.

Hints and Ideas:
Here's some tips. You can clean glue easily off of wooden surfaces with a solution of Murphy's Oil soap and warm water. Comes off like magic. this is a wonderful craft to do with children of all ages. I like to have the shapes already cut out when we sit down to do this project, so the children will not become bored during the cutting process. This is also a great project for large groups. It can be done over multiple days. I think we did something like it with paper plates in Campfire when I was a little girl. I do a quick-glue version of this with the trusty hot-glue gun and some glittery hot-glue. It makes beautiful little christmas pins to put in cards. You could also glue 2 of them together and wire around a pencil top, so the kids can "write" with their angels. I hope you have fun with this craft and let me know how it turns out. If you're having any trouble with it, let me know and I'll be glad to help you.
