BIRTH OF A POSSUM


The following pictures were submitted to me by my friend Barbara. These pictures are
of a possum named Stella, who we took in as a tiny baby of about 30 grams. Stella
had severe neurological impairment when she came to us, but
steadily got better as she got older. At the age of 1 we turned her over to our
friend Barb, who readied her for release.
Stella comes from a famous background actually, as it was Leslie Rule who
originally found her. Leslie's mother, Ann Rule, is a famous crime writer and Leslie
herself is a very talented author in her own right.
Following in Bell's footsteps,
Stella decided to return to Barb's home to have her babies. The
following pictures depict the actual birth of these babies.



Look at those tiny babies attached to her nipples!



If you look VERY close, you can see a baby emerging from the birth canal.
