WHO DO YOU LOVE?
Chapter 2
Kevin's View

The next morning…

I woke up to see everyone conked out on the living room floor.  I was the first one awake.  I slowly crept into the kitchen, to make some breakfast.

"Oh shit!" Elyse shrieked, dropping a plate, sending it crashing to the floor.

"Oh Elyse, I didn't think you were awake.  Sorry baby."

"Oh, it's okay.  Jeez, you scared me to death."

"Sorry.  Let me help you clean up this glass."  I said, motioning towards the broken plate.

"What the hell is going on in here?" Nick mumbled, groggily, walking into the room.

"Nothing Nick, go back to sleep."

"Kev, you know I can't get back to sleep once I've been waken up.  So I'll just watch you guys pick up the glass."

"You could help, you know."

"Yes, I could… but I'm not gonna." he grinned.

I was just about to get nasty, when Brian and Colleen walked in.

"What's happening?" Brian yawned.

"Nothing B, I startled Elyse, and she dropped the plate… that's all."

"Ah, I see.  Well I'm awake so you guys need help getting breakfast started or anything?" Col suggested.

"You?  Cook?  Col, you can't cook for shit!" Nick laughed.

"Shut up Nick.  Look who's talking…"

"Yeah Nick, you're the worst cook out of all of us!" Brian retorted, defending Col… as usual.

"Maybe, but I'm damn proud of it." he muttered, leaving the kitchen.

"Asshole…" I mumbled.

"Yep, he can be sometimes." Brian agreed.

"So, if I'm not gonna cook breakfast, who is?" Col said, staring off into space.

"Why don't I go get some bagels and stuff?" Brian suggested.

"Good idea B. I'll come." Col replied.

"Good.  We'll be back in a little while."

"Okay guys, hurry up, I'm hungry." I heard Nick shout from the living room.

"Asshole…" I repeated to myself.

Colleen's View

"Thanks for letting me come with you.  I was dying to get out of that house!" I complained, as we drove to the store.

"Same here.  That's why I volunteered to go."

"And wasn't that game of 'Truth Or Dare' horrible?"

"No it wasn't so bad." he grinned.

"You actually enjoyed it?"

"Well… yeah."

"Why's that?"

"Because… I got to kiss you." he mumbled, blushing.

"Hey, here's the bakery.  Let's go before it gets crowded." I said, enthusiastically.  I had successfully changed the subject.

We quickly grabbed some bagels, muffins, and orange juice.  We were on our way back within 5 minutes.

"Drive slow B.  I don't feel like going back to Howie's."

"Alright." he replied, slowing down a bit.

"Hey Col… I need to ask you something."

"Oh no!  What did I do now?"

"I'm serious."

"Oh okay, what's up?" I asked, getting nervous.

"Well last night, when we kissed… did you feel anything?  Like, you know, anything?"

"What?  Oh no, of course not Brian!  It was just a stupid dare." I lied.
Yes, Brian, I did feel something.  I love you… that's what I wanted to say, but the total opposite came out.

"Right… a stupid dare.  Remind me to kill Elyse today." he said, weakly.

"Oh yeah, I plan on it."

There was an uncomfortable silence, as I sat fiddling with my hands.  I'm so stupid!  Why couldn't I tell him how I felt?  That I'm in love with him… that I wanna be with him.

"Brian?"

"Yep?"

"I lo-… love this car.  It's so cool."

"You love my car?" he replied, giving me a funny look.

"Yeah.  It's so clean."

"Clean?  My car is the total opposite of clean.  Do you feel alright?"

"I guess I'm still kinda tired."

"Yeah I get you.  Well, here we are.  I drove as slow as possible."

"Yes you did." I replied, grabbing the bag of food, as we made our way back into the house.

"You're back!  Finally!" AJ exclaimed, grabbing the bag from me, and running into the kitchen.

"AJ, you're such a kid!" Sophia laughed, running after him.

"Hey Col, you mad at me?" Nick whispered, coming up from behind me.

"Yeah, you said I was a bad cook."

"Well, with all due respect… you are."

"I know, but so are you, so you shouldn't be talking!"

"You're right Collie.  Sorry."

"It's okay Nickels, you know I can't stay mad at you for too long."

"What's with Nickels?  I don't like being called that." he complained.

"I know… that's why I call you that dearest." I giggled, taking a seat at the table.

"No fair!" he whined.

"Life isn't fair.  Get used to it." Brian added.

He's right… life isn't fair.  It isn't fair to Brian, that I'm not telling him the way I feel towards him…

Brian's View

"Aren't you gonna eat Bri?" Sophia asked, noticing that my dish was empty.

"Nah, I'm not hungry."

"Dude, I hate eating in front of you, because your just sitting there, like you just lost your best friend."  AJ added.

"I'm gonna go home, and try to get some more sleep.  We were all up pretty late last night." I said, blankly.

"Oh okay man, we'll see you later." Nick mumbled, looking up from his plate.

"Yeah, bye guys."

I blindly walked out of the house, and somehow was able to drive home.  My heart was broken, yet again.  How could she not feel anything from that kiss?  Why couldn't she see that we were perfect for each other?  Why didn't she wanna be with me?  Was I that bad?

"Okay Brian, you're being way too critical." I thought out loud.

I fumbled with my keys to open the door to my house.  I was in a daze.  I was hurt… completely hurt.

That afternoon…

Nick's View

I quickly dialed Brian's number, and waited for him to pick up.  I needed someone to hang with today, because Gwen was visiting her parents.

"Hello?"

"Hey Frick, it's me."

"No kidding." he replied, sarcastically.

"You wanna shoot some hoops?" I asked, ignoring his fresh comment.

"Nah, I'm not really in the mood." he mumbled, sadly.

"Why?  What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just really tired.  Maybe later on."

"Alright.  I'll stop by later."

"Okay Nick.  Bye."

"Later."

What was up with him?  I'll just have to beg AJ to chill with me today.

Sophia's View

"AJ, that tickles." I giggled, as AJ kissed my neck.

RING, RING, RING…

"AJ, phone." I mumbled, as his hands reached to lift off my shirt.

"Aw fuck, let it ring."

"No, I really think you should answer it."

"Oh fine.  Hello?" he mumbled, reluctantly picking up the phone.

"Why?  I don't feel like it.  I'm kinda in the middle of something." he whispered, glancing over at me.

"No.  Because I don't wanna.  Alright fine.  I'll be there in a few minutes.  Bye."

"That was Nick.  He was begging me to hang out with him for a little while.  Can I?" he said, kissing my cheek.

"Sure you can.  I gotta clean this place up anyway.  I'll see you later sweetie."

"Okay, bye honey."

He gave me one quick kiss, before disappearing out the door.

I grabbed the vacuum from the closet, and was just about to start cleaning, when the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey Sophia.  It's B." came Brian's soft voice.

"Hey Brian!  How are you?"

"Not so good.  Are you busy?"

"Nope, AJ just left to chill with Nick, so I'm free.  Why?" I asked, curiously.

"I need some advice-from a girl.  And I can't talk to Col, because it's about her.  Can you come over?"

"Yeah sure Bri.  I'll be there in 5 minutes."

"Thanks, you're the best."

"Your welcome.  See you later."

"Bye Cefi."

Brian's View

"I'm here!" Sophia grinned, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks so much for coming."

"Oh no problem.  It was an excuse to get away from cleaning the house." she laughed.

"Oh I get you.  Have a seat." I replied, motioning towards the couch.

"Okay B, spill."

"Alright.  Well you know how me and Colleen were dared to kiss last night?"

"Yep…"

"Well I felt something.  I'm still in love with her, so naturally I felt something.  But I asked her about it earlier, and she said she didn't feel anything.  I don't get how I could feel so much, and she could feel nothing.  It just hurts."

"Aw Brian… what exactly did you feel?"

"Love, passion, fire, want, need.  And it amazes me that something so strong, wasn't felt by her at all." I mumbled, sadly.

"And she told you she felt nothing at all?"

"Yep, she said it was just a stupid dare."

"Ouch."

"Yeah I know.  Do you think I should give up on trying with her?  Or should I continue to set myself up for this pain?"

"I can't make that decision for you Brian.  But my opinion would be to let her go.  If she can't realize that the perfect guy is right under her nose… then forget about her."

"Maybe your right, but I can't stop loving her… if only it were that easy."

"I know you can't, but eventually you're gonna meet someone who's gonna give you her heart and soul… something that Colleen obviously can't do right now."

"Thanks." I said, smiling weakly.

"Anytime."

"Well you wanna watch some TV?" I suggested.

"Of course!  Turn on some soap operas.  It's gotta be General Hospital all the way." she grinned.

"You got it." I laughed, switching on channel 7.

I had never really thought of letting Colleen go.  But Sophia brought up a very good point… Col wasn't willing to give me her heart and soul, and I needed someone who would.  It suddenly hit me, hard:  Colleen wasn't the one for me.
