For the past 3 years, pop music fans have enjoyed the smooth sounds of the group O-Town. Their first CD, O-Town, went platinum and gold several times. But that was in 2001. O-Town has been writing new songs for the past couple years, and the boys, Ashley, Jacob, Erik, Dan, and Trevor, have finally put them all together. O-Town’s new CD, O2, is scheduled to be released October 22nd, 2002. This new CD has a “rock feel” to it and is a mix of O-town's personal style and tastes. Some of the new songs include “From the Damage,” which was written by Ashley, “American Game,” wrote by Dan and Jacob, and “Death Wish,” which was written by Dan and Erik. Each song has a personal meaning to the members of the group and shows the group's growth and change.
“From the Damage” is a song that seems to be about a time to start over, to re-do everything, and to fix problems in relationships. Writer and group member Ashley Angel won't tell what it's supposed to be about, though, leaving it to the imagination of the listener.
“American Game” was written by Dan Miller and Jacob Underwood. This is a happy, upbeat song that tells about how you don’t have to agree with everything anyone says because they live in America. Another message might be their feelings against war. One line says “...I got my hat tipped down. I got my peace sign out. And I’m not gonna change." However, this is another song that may be based on the imagination of the listener.
“Death Wish” is a fan favorite. Erik-Michael Estrada and Dan Miller co-wrote this song together. The song tells about the kind of girl that a boy’s mother always says to avoid, but he ends up wanting to get involved with her anyway. Who is the girl? Erik said that the girl knows who she is.
“Over Easy” is about a relationship ending. Dan Miller, the brainchild behind the song, wrote it from the heart, and it's lyrically strong. It expresses the pain and confusion in someone who has been broken up with in a serious relationship.
Other songs on the CD include “Favorite Girl,” which was written by rap star Nelly. The song was originally for a soloist, but it fit well with the group. “I Showed Her” is a strong ballad that shows the pain of ending a relationship. It is well liked among fans and music lovers alike.
You can be sure that O2 will be a smash hit. To find out more info about O2 check out www.O-Town.com
O-Town fans have something else to look forward to: pretty soon you can be dressed by three-fifths of O-Town. Erik, Ashley, and Trevor are launching their own clothing line for guys and girls this fall called Atira. Their clothing line, said to be a mix of urban, surf, skate, and '70s styles, will include baby tees, baseball shirts, shorts, and leather jackets. Keep an eye out for it this fall.
