We all know O-Town is the object of many people's criticism and skepticism because of the way they were formed. The fact that their music was not the first thing to catch the public's eye is leaving many people saying they "aren't real." America first met Ashley, Erik, Dan, Trevor, and Jacob eight months before their first single, "Liquid Dreams", was released. Now that their second single, "All or Nothing", is invading the airwaves and MTV, will O-Town last as artists or will they just be TV personalities?

I personally love "Making the Band" and O-Town. Their talent is truly remarkable, especially for a group that has been together for just over a year. However, a group even with their talent would probably not be in their position after only a year under normal circumstances, that is, without the attention they received from "Making the Band." However, the tremendous attention from the show is not the only reason why they have a platinum album and a new single so many girls around the country are singing along to. Their talent has brought them far as well. They obviously were not picked up by J Records because Clive Davis saw them on "Making the Band." I know that I personally would not buy their CD or listen to their music if they lacked talent, and I would hope that feeling is shared among their other fans.

With all my opinions of them out of the way I was left to honestly and truthfully answer the question of will O-Town stick around the pop music scene or will they just be known for being the stars of a TV show? After seriously thinking about it, I came up with the answer of yes, they will stay popular as artists. Their style of music is very different from the other boy bands, and they are loved by their fans as being five talented, young, down-to-earth, good looking guys, not as TV stars. If anything, "Making the Band" gives their fans a better sense of who they really are, and gives the audience an opportunity to become familiar with their true personalities. But with their summer tour kicking off July 6th, a new song on the Dr. Doolittle 2 soundtrack, the "All Or Nothing" single hitting stores June 26, and a second season of "Making the Band" unfolding Friday nights at 8:00 ET on ABC, we'll just have to wait and see what becomes of O-Town's future.
