David and Goliath
The armies of Israel and the armies of the Philistines drew
together for battle. The warriors covered the hillsides
above the valley where the battle would be fought. The
Philistines sent their champion out to fight against Israel.
He was a nine foot tall giant named Goliath! All the men
in Israel were afraid of the giant and would not fight him.
Then a young shepherd boy named David came forward and said,
"I will fight the giant!" Goliath was angry that Israel
sent a boy out to fight him. He called David a dog and said
he would kill him. Then David said to Goliath, "You come to
me with a sword and a spear, but I come to you in the name
of the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, whom you have
taunted. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand
and I will strike you down!" David took a stone and placed
it in his sling. He slung the stone at Goliath. It hit him
in the head. David, a young boy, had killed the giant!
