Jonah and the Whale
Jonah was a prophet of God. One day, God told Jonah to go
to the city of Nineveh. God wanted Jonah to tell the people
of Nineveh that they were wicked. Jonah was afraid of the
people of Nineveh so he sailed away on a ship instead of
going to Nineveh, as he was told. God made a great storm
on the sea and the ship that Jonah was on began to sink.
The sailors knew the storm came because of Jonah. They
threw Jonah into the sea and the storm stopped. As Jonah
began to sink, God sent a big whale to rescue him. The
whale opened its mouth and swallowed Jonah whole! Jonah
lived in the belly of the whale for three days and three
nights. Then the whale spit him out on the seashore and
Jonah went to Nineveh. He told the wicked people of Nineveh
that God was going to destroy their city. The people felt
so bad that they stopped their wicked ways. God, in His
rich mercy, forgave them and did not destroy their city.
