“Whoa, that was amazin’ girl!” Vanessa greeted me as me
and Britney headed over to our table where the dinner would be served shortly.
“Thanks...” I said to her, distractedly. Britney excused
herself to go talk to Ashley, from O-Town, so Vanessa took the chance to talk to
me.
“Well...?”
She asked. I laughed.
“Well
what?” I asked.
“did you
see him?” She said. I stared at her, puzzled. “You know. Justin?”
“Yes.
Very specific,” I smirked.
“You
know. *NSYNC. Break-Up. New York, Birthday Weekend. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE” she
pointed out. I gasped.
“What?”
“Well,
you didn’t know? They’re the honor guests, because they’re the top selling Jive
artistes of the year. Doi!” She remarked, just as Britney joined us.
We ate
our dinner, and all through the meal I was thinking about Justin. It had been a
year since we broke-up. Did he recognize me on stage? Was he watching me? Was
he watching me NOW? I asked myself. Shut up, Sophie, just enjoy the dinner!
“And...this brings us to the end of the Jive party. Just
before we leave, we have an award and one last performance by Jive’s Artist of
the Year...*NSYNC!” Everyone clapped. I didn’t. So they were here! I lost my
breath when they came on stage. Justin was in the middle, of course, just steps
away from where I’d been an hour and a half ago.
“Hey
y’all! Well...uh, this is just amazing. I know we’ve been through a lot,
break-ups, girlfriends,” at this, Joey hooted, causing people to laugh.
“Yeah...Joey with the most. Uh, We’d like to thank God for blessing us with
great crew, great records, and a good company, with so many talented artist’s
like you guys. We love ya!” And they stepped off their stage.
“Now...presenting
*NSYNC with a song off of their un-released album, Celebrity! Here it is:
Gone!” He stepped off the stage and let the guys of *NSYNC come on. They were
still in their tuxes, and they were each sitting on a stool, michrophone in
their hands. As they started to sing, I started to smile. Justin looked right
at me.
There's
a thousand words that I could say
To make you come home
Oh, seems so long ago you walked away
Left me alone
I remember what you said to me
You were acting so strange
and maybe I was too blind to see
That you needed a change
Was it something I said
To make you turn away?
To make you walk out and leave me cold
If I could just find a way
To make it so that you were right here
But right now..
I've been sitting here
Can't get you off my mind
I've tried my best to be a man and be strong
I've drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face
But the truth remains..
You're gone..
You're gone..
Baby you're gone
Girl you're gone, baby girl, you're gone..
You're gone..
You're...
I don't wanna make excuses, baby
Won't change the fact that you're gone
But if there's something that I could do
Won't you please let me know?
Time is passing so slowly now
Guess that's my life without you
and maybe I could change my every day
But baby I don't want to
So I'll just hang around
and find some things to do
To take my mind off missing you
and I know in my heart
You can't say that you don't love me too
Please say you do
Yeeaah....
I've been sitting here
Can't get you off my mind
I've tried my best to be a man and be strong
I Drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face
But the truth remains
You're gone..
You're gone..
You're gone
You're gone...you're gone.. you're....
Gone
Ohhh...
Oh what'll I do
If I can't be with you
Tell me where will I turn to
Baby where will I be
We are apart
Am I still in your heart?
Baby why don't you see?
That I need you here with me
Oohhh...
I've been sitting here
Can't get you off my mind
I've tried my best to be a man and be strong
I've drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face
But the truth remains
Been sitting here
Can't get you off my mind
I've tried my best to be a man and be strong
I drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face
But the truth remains
You're gone..
You're gone..
You're gone
You're gone
Gone
You're gone..
But the truth remains
You're....
They finished the song, and Justin sorta half smiled at
me. I smiled back.
