"Hey J this is Brian."
"Hey Rok, what's up?"
"Well Leigh decided she she wants to have a bunch of people come over to celebrate the movie opening in theaters."
"I dunno man..." AJ said reluctantly thinking he'd rather go to a club .
"Listen I'm not really supposed to tell you this but there's a girl from the movie Leighanne is trying to set you up with."
"Aw man I dunno. Blind dates are usually dogs. You know the chicks that can't get their own dates?"
"Trust me J, this girl is pretty, smart, and funny. The only thing better than that is Leighanne but she is taken."
"You ae so whipped!" AJ cackled.
"I'm not whipped; I'm married!!" Brian said in his own defense.
"Sure Rok; you pull out all these lines and your girl ain't even there to hear 'em!! And no you ain't whipped at all."
"So anyway you coming?"
"Sure you've tempted me with this girl. What's her name? What doe she look like?"
"She's got her hair dyed red and she is real pretty. She is probably about 5'7". Real nice girl."
"You sure she aint a dog?"
"Positive J. Plus Leigh is setting Nicky up too. But don't tell him."
"Ah, I see. Whose the girl?"
"Kayla."
"That chick from the movie?"
"Yeah. Nicky has a bit of a crush on her."
"Man, you have better set me up with someone as hot as Nicky's date."
"Chill J. You'll like her." Brian laughed.
"Ok; see you later Rok."
"Later J." he said as he hung up the telephone.
***Dinner***
"Hey Kayla!"
"Hey Leigh! Hey Bri!" she said as she hugged each of them. "I brought you a little gift." she said holding up a large rectangular shaped package.
"Oh you shouldn't have Kay."
"Oh come on, after all you had to deal with on the set..." she laughed. "This was the least I could do."
"Well thank you Kay."
"Go ahead and open it."
"Ok.." she said as she pulled the wrapping off to reveal a picture with most of the cast along with signatures.
"Aw...Thank you Kayla. We'll have to find someplace nice to hang it."
***Later***
"Hey J and Nick are here." Brian announced as he pulled open the front door to welcome them in.
"Hey Rok. Sup man?"
"Not much J. Just go right into the backyard."
"Hey Frick, how ya been?"
"Pretty good. C'mon everyone's hanging out in the back." he said as they made their way to the back yard.
"J, I'd like to introduce you to Allison. Allison this is AJ."
"Nice to meet you Allison." he grinned.
"And this is Nick."
"Nice to meet you Nick."
"Likewise." he said shaking her hand.
"And Nick I'd also like you to meet Kayla Williams. Kayla this is..."
"I know Bri, you introduced me to him before. I think you at starting to lose your memory old man." Kayla teased.
"Hey now don't pick on me."
"Yea anyway...it's nice to meet you again Nick." she said smiling at him.
"And that was J, but he and Allison are off doing whatever." Brian said pointing in the direction in which the two were still walking in.
"Bri, you should probably watching the food Hon." Leigh Anne called to him to give him an excuse to leave Nick and Kayla alone.
"Ok well talk to you two in a bit." he said as he made his way over to the barbeque.
"So how old are you Nick?" Kayla asked feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"I'm 21. How old are you?"
"I'm 22."
"I would ask you what you do but since I already know that it'd just be kind of dumb...." he said laughing nervously.
"So um you like the movie?"
"Yeah it was really good. You are a great actress. Bri and Leigh told me a little bit about the movie before I saw it and I was actually dreading going to that premier. Until I saw you....." he said smiling. Then he realized he had actually said that last part out loud and his smile faded as his face began to turn red.
"Cute..." she laughed. "You are a smooth one."
"Um thanks." he said still embarrassed.
"So anyway I know you really came to support Leigh. But I do hope you enjoyed the movie."
"I did it was really good. And it was funny. I don't suppose all the stunts you and Leigh had to do were all that fun but they were fun to watch."
"Thanks."
***Other side of the Yard***
"Hey could I get your number?" AJ asked Allison as they wandered around Brian's yard.
"Sure, if you give me yours." she smiled. What could she say, if this guy wasn't boyfriend material, he would at least be hot.
"Deal...And how about a date?"
"I guess I should say yes to that too...." she laughed.
"Of course you should." he joked.
"Some one is a bit cocky huh?"
"Nah, just confident." he smiled.
"Oh I see; so that's what they are calling it now huh?" she teased. He laughed genuinely enjoying her company. "So when is this date?"
"How about tomorrow night, say about 8?"
"Well depends...what exactly are we going to be doing?"
"How about dinner and a movie?"
"Sure, so tomorrow at 8 I'll pick you up for dinner and a movie."
"Yea....wait, no I pick YOU up for dinner and a movie."
"Why is it so set that you drive?"
"Because, I'm treating you. It's respectful. Later I'll let you spend ALL your money on me....." he joked.
"Aw I see THAT'S how it works now!!!" she laughed.
***NEXT DAY***
"Hello?"
"Hey is this Kayla?"
"Yes, may I ask who is speaking?"
"This is Leigh. I was just calling to see how you are. I didn't really get to talk to you much yesterday."
"Oh I'm doing fine. I had a nice time at your party yesterday."
"I'm glad to hear that. Did you get to meet all the guys?"
"Yeah, mostly I hung out with Nick."
"Well that's good." she said trying to hide the smile in her voice.
"Leigh, thank you it was a sweet gesture."
"What do you mean?" Leighanne questioned attempting to play dumb.
"Making Nick hang out with me all night. He was really sweet but you don't have to make him spend his time with me."
"Kay, I didn't make Nick do anything. I can't make him do anything."
"Then why would he hang out with me all night? And ask me out?"
"Maybe because he likes you Kayla. And what did you say when he asked you out?"
"I...Well I...I said no."
"Why?"
"Because I thought the only reason he was asking was because you had told him to."
"No. To be honest I set up the party hoping to fix you and Nick up and AJ and Allison."
"Oh...Oh well. Too late now. One out of two isn't bad."
"Oh no you don't! You aren't going to give up so easy."
"Leigh Anne, he is a nice guy. And he is really cute......" she smiled as her thoughts drifted to how gorgeous Nick Carter really was.
"But....What? Come on you know he is perfect for you." Leigh Anne said snapping Kayla back to reality.
"But it's not like it's Destiny. I mean jeez come on. I've only really talked to the guy once."
"You'll see...He is a good kid. I am a great match maker. You watch AJ and Allison already have a date. You and Nick are going to hook up." Leigh Anne said smiling.
"Uh huh. I'm sure." she laughed while thinking "Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing if I were wrong."
