The Journey Home
By me :)

« @ »

This is a story, of a young homeless girl,
She longed for a house, the most beautiful in the world.
So day and night, she walked alone,
Hoping to find a place to call home.

Up and down the deserted hills,
Beyond the valleys, and yonder still,
She trudged along, this poor little soul,
Under blistering heat and shivering cold.

At last, she came upon a house someplace,
"Come in, come in!" waved the owner, a smile on his face.
"See, look how beautiful is my home,
With its white-washed walls and a pathway of stone."

The girl was grateful, yet she knew she must not,
"It's a beautiful house, but the roof has begun to rot."
She shook her head and carried on,
Certain she would find another, better, further along.

And true enough, another came by,
"Little girl, come in!" yelled this sad, lonely guy,
"My beautiful house is big enough for us two,
I even have a room that's ready for you!"

The girl thanked him, but then turned around,
"Your house is beautiful, but it lacks solid ground."
Tired as she was, she continued again,
Walking down that long, winding lane.

She walked and she walked, fatigue catching up,
"The way things are going, I may be out of luck,
I am so tired, I cannot walk anymore,
Should I just go back to the houses before?

"Oh, was I too fussy? I just wanted a home,
Who knows what this lane leads to, or won't?
If I should die here without a roof above my head,
Will it be because of my choices, or simply by fate?

"Dear God, give me strength, I can't do this alone,
I believe that it's out there, a place I'll call home,
Until I reach there, let me not go astray,
With Your help, I know I'll find it, one fateful day."

On she walked, only her faith remained,
Come what may, she chose to follow that lane,
The one that she had taken, so very long ago,
The one that would lead her home.
