I woke up today and sighed,
I stared at my reflection,
My forehead’s too wide,
And (gasp), look at my complexion!

Somewhere,
Someone hides behind a mask,
Face distorted beyond recognition.

I grumbled for being awoken,
So early in the morning,
Felt like hours of sleep were stolen,
Had to keep my eyes from closing.

Somewhere,
Someone is crying,
For the loved one who will never wake.

I trudged to school, muttering,
While shivering in the cold,
Why did I have to keep schooling,
When there’s so much I already know?

Somewhere,
Someone is pining,
For the chance to learn.

I came back home,
Got yelled at for no reason,
Stayed in my room, alone,
Just like all throughout the seasons.

Somewhere,
Someone is wishing,
For a second chance with his parents.

Sadly, I recalled,
How much I was teased,
I was always too tall,
For my own good, I believed.

Somewhere,
Someone is imagining,
The two legs that aren’t there.

I laughed and mused,
Thinking how stupid I was,
How easily I was used,
By friends and all.

Somewhere,
Someone is regretting,
Letting go of friendships so easily.

I yelled at my parents,
When they said “It’s too expensive”,
Glaring daggers,
I left and was finished.

Somewhere,
Someone is dying,
Because there was no money for food.

I began to write,
So furiously, my hand hurt,
Little by little, I saw the light,
And put them down in words.

I calmed down somewhat,
And began to think,
And found,
That I had closed my eyes to many things,
And it’s time to take a look around.
