“Oh here he comes,” Ike pointed as he and Taylor sat on the front porch eating their dessert without Zac.
“You missed dinner,” Taylor laughed as Zac came up the driveway.
“I had pizza,” Zac shrugged with a grin.
“I’m confused,” Ike replied.
“Whatever,” Taylor shrugged eating a cookie.
“STOP SAYING THAT WORD!” Ike slapped him on the arm, “and stop eating those cookies!”
“I just got invited to a cheerleading competition, I was hanging out with the ladies at the car wash, who will be there all weekend, washing cars,” Zac smiled with his teeth.
“Were they in bikinis?” Taylor asked dropping his cookie.
“Yup,” Zac nodded smugly.
“Tay why do you care? Lucy invited you to that cheerleading competition anyway…” Ike replied breaking a cookie and examining the inside.
“Oh yeah, you have to tell me about this Lucy girl,” Zac replied sitting down next to his two brothers and taking a cookie.
“She is HOT,” Taylor said.
“Really? And she cheerleads for Nathan Hale?” Zac asked biting a cookie.
“No – she is on the Union High Freshman Squad,” Taylor replied. Zac spit out his cookie the second he said that.
“Okay! So she’s a freshman but she looks older! And she’s really nice!” Taylor exclaimed.
“Good God! WHAT are in these cookies!?” Zac flinched.
“Jess and Avery’s specialty – rice,” Ike smiled knowingly.
“UH!” Zac winced.
“Whatever, so back to Lucy…” Taylor replied taking a sip of the Dr. Pepper he had in his hand, “She invited me to this competion on Saturday, like two weeks from now I think,” Taylor replied.
“That’s the same one that I’m going to…you can’t go!” Zac exclaimed.
“Why not?” Taylor asked.
“BECAUSE I’M GOING!” Zac said.
“So? I’m for Union and you’re for Nathan Hale- big deal? So we’re in the same building at the same time? We DO sleep in the same bedroom…” Taylor said.
“Can you say ‘Bring It On’?” Ike laughed.
Zac and Taylor both glared at him.
“Okay I guess not…” Ike muttered.
“Look, Tay – all my friends are going to be there, and none of yours will,” Zac tried to persuade his older brother.
“I can always get some of my friends to go,” Taylor shrugged, “I was invited and I already told her I could go.”
Zac groaned, “Thank you Taylor, you’ve ruined my life yet again.”
“Whatever Drama Queen,” Taylor rolled his eyes.
“I’m going to go crazy in this house…” Zac muttered as he entered to see Zoe chasing Mackenzie yet again through the living room trying to get her Barbie back.
“Isaac is that you?” Diana called from the kitchen.
“No, it’s me mom,” Zac replied walking into the kitchen.
“Oh! I was getting worried about you, dinner was over an hour ago,” Diana told him.
“Yeah, I walked up to the car wash, Amy, Jamie, and Katie are raising money for their cheerleading squad. Ryan and all those guys were there and they let us eat pizza with them,” Zac replied.
“Oh, well I’m glad you were with your friends,” Diana smiled. She knew that spending that time at the car wash- no matter how minor it seemed probably meant a lot to Zac, because he was acting like a normal kid- and there were no cameras.
“Yeah, I had fun,” Zac smiled.
“Well that’s good,” Diana replied getting ready to do the dishes.
“Want me to dry for you?” Zac asked, he remembered doing that when he was younger- his mom would wash the dishes and he would dry them.
“Actually…I was just going to put them in the dishwasher…” Diana smiled apologetically.
“Oh yeah, I kind of forgot about that,” Zac laughed.
Diana smiled, “So did you meet Taylor’s friend Lucy? We heard all about her at dinner – she’s a cheerleader.”
“Well I didn’t meet her but Jamie, Amy, and Katie invited me to go to one of their cheerleading competitions, it’s against Lucy’s team and Taylor is going. Do you think it would be alright if I go too?” Zac asked.
“If you want to, where is it?” Diana asked.
“It’s at Nathan Hale like two Saturdays from now,” Zac replied.
“I remember being a cheerleader at Nathan Hale,” His mother smiled.
“So I can go?” Zac smiled.
“Of course,” Diana agreed.
“Okay thanks mom,” Zac grabbed a Pepsi and went up to his room.
“Anytime sweetheart,” Diana replied closing the dishwasher.
