"Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!"
Ashlyn rolled her eyes at her friends dramatics. "Alanna shut up and get out of the damn car. You're gonna be late if you don't get your butt in that building now," Ashlyn said.
"I thought I could do this but now we're actually here..."Alanna trailed off, shaking her head.
"You can and you will. I promise I'll be out here waiting for you," Ashlyn tried to calm Alanna.
"I wish you could come in. Yeah I know what you're gonna say 'the meeting is for acts to meet up and I'm not one of the acts'. Well that sucks if I may say so myself and what the hell are you laughing at?"
"I'm sorry...it's...God I have never heard you whine so much in the whole time I've known you as you have this morning. I'll meet them in a few days okay? Now go!" Ashlyn insisted, pushing her shoulder.
Alanna took one last look back at Ashlyn, took a deep breath and then entered the Jive building. Sitting at the reception desk was a middle-aged woman that smiled up at Alanna as she cautiously approached. "Erm...hi...I'm Alanna Scott and I'm supposed to meet Lance Bass here for a meeting." Meet him for a meeting? Oh great, not only does she probably think I'm a fan but she probably thinks I'm stupid as well.
"Ahh Miss Scott. Yes Mr Bass is expecting you up on the first floor. If you take the elevator which is behind you, he is in the conference room at the end of the hall, you can't miss it," the receptionist informed her.
"Um thank you, thank you very much."
"No problem dear, good luck."
"Thanks. I'm gonna need it," Alanna mumbled under her breath as she headed towards her fate.
She knocked on the door of the conference room a few minutes later. Nobody answered and so she slowly opened the door and cautiously poked her head into the room to see if Lance was in fact waiting there as she had been told. What greeted her was a mad house. Over one side of the room she saw a group of people she didn't recognise deep in conversation. All of a sudden two bodies fell down in front of her accidentally knocking the heavy door and hitting her on the forehead. Damn that hurt. She rubbed the spot on her head.
Alanna looked up and realised all eyes were on her. She just wanted to turn around and hide but was prevented from doing so when Lance ran up to her.
"Oh my God, Alanna are you okay?" he asked. "Guys what the hell do you think you were doing? Come sit down, that was some bump," Lance announced in a worried tone.
"I'm fine really." Just really embarrassed, she thought.
The two men sheepishly stood up and introduced themselves.
"Hi, I'm Chris. Sorry about that but this doofus over here needed a lesson taught him."
"I'm Joey and ignore Chris. Are you okay? We wouldn't want to put a bump on that pretty face of yours?" said Joey, ever the charmer.
Oh please don't let my face be going red. Where the hell is Ashlyn when I need her? She'd be able to think of some quick comeback.
"Er I'm fine, it's nice to meet you both," she said shyly.
"Believe us, the pleasure is all ours...ouch," grumbled Joey who had just been hit over the head by Lance.
"Joey," warned Lance.
"Hey I'm Justin, nice to meet you Alanna," Justin jumped in.
Alanna looked toward the tall, curly haired man and smiled, silently thanking him for the distraction from the pending argument between Joey and Lance. "You too Justin."
Lance turned to Alanna and announced to the people present, "so everyone this is Alanna Scott, Alanna...erm this is everyone. I'm sure you'll get to know them all throughout the tour."
Everyone politely said hi to her and a middle-aged man approached her. "Alanna this is our manager Johnny Wright," Lance said.
"Alanna I've heard a lot of good things about you, I can't wait to see you out on that stage. If you'll excuse me I need to get going but I'll be seeing you around I expect," Johnny said. He said his farewells before exiting the room.
Lance turned to Alanna and noticed that she looked very pale. "Listen don't worry about the stage thing yet. We'll deal with that when we come to it. You and your dancers have got everything down tight."
Alanna gave Lance a small smile. "Thanks. Your friends are really nice, I had a bit of a surprising welcome but it was good meeting them all the same."
Lance chuckled, "Yeah well I'd get used to it, it seems nothing is surprising when it comes to us, or so I've been told. That reminds me, we have a member of the group missing. Where is JC anyway guys?"
"I'm right here, sorry I'm late but I got held up in traffic. Hey Lance is your new singer here?" JC asked.
Alanna stepped out from behind Lance and was immediately met with two blue eyes that seemed to bore into her. Alanna took a shaky breath, "I guess that would be me."
