Chapter 16

Dakota walked into the small locker room outside of the shower. “Jesus! Court, you scared me!” she jumped back. “Sorry.” She smiled, raising an eyebrow slightly. “I didn’t get to talk to you since I left last night.”

“I know. Sorry I cut out so early this morning. Needed to clear my head, ya know?” Dakota smiled, taking a seat on the bench next to her friend. “Anything in particular?” Courtney asked, not wanting to have to force information out of her.

Dakota smirked. “You’re not real good at beating around the bush Court. It’s not what you think though. My head is actually straight with the Josh thing. Enough on me. Girl, how was your date last night!?”

Courtney smiled. “Beyond words, D. Beyond words.”


After Courtney dished out all the details she could possibly put in words, Dakota dressed and got ready for her first appointment. She couldn’t keep her mind from wandering to one man, and one man only.

She hadn’t left his side for even ten minutes when he missed her already. He watched her with the other guys. Radiant. Confident. How was he so lucky as to have into in his life. Again.

Lance!” Justin called from a kitchen window. Lance snapped himself back into reality. “Lance!” Justin called again. “Dude… I’m comin’” Lance yelled back. He picked himself up onto his feet and ran to the house where Justin stood.

Lance got to Justin, still looking towards Courtney. “So, she your girl yet?” he asked. Lance looked at him. “Who?” Justin laughed. “Who? Who? Wonderful Lance, you’re still in denial.” Lance moved his gaze from the girl, to his friend. “Not totally. I’m working on it. It’ll happen.” Justin chuckled. “This year?”

“Funny Justin. Funny.” He smiled.


::Knock, Knock::
Dakota looked inside the house through to tall window beside the door. No signs of life were present. They were probably all out back already. It wasn’t her fault Mrs. Holond decided today was the day to talk about her daughter’s future in dance. How do you break it to a mother that dancing isn’t her daughter’s future. She was just about to give up and call Courtney’s cell when the door opened. “Well hello there gorgeous” he said, smiling at her.
