Dakota waved goodbye the Sally, the little girl whose mother insisted she get dance lessons.

“I swear Mrs. Holond thinks that precious little thing is the next Britney Spears.” Dakota said to Courtney. Courtney smiled. “I know. I don’t even think the girl likes to dance.”

“Oh, believe me, she doesn’t. That’s quite obvious. I can’t turn someone into a dancer that doesn’t want to be. I’m not that good.” Dakota laughed. “Well, girl, if anyone can do it, it’s you” Courtney smiled.

Dakota was about to comment when the door to the studio opened. The two girls walked out to the main lobby. Dakota chuckled to herself at the sight before her. Could the boy like Courtney any more? Doubtful. “Lance!” Courtney smiled while walking towards him. “Whatca doin’ here?” He walked towards her, smiling the whole way. “Hi Dakota” he smiled at her, looking up from Courtney’s eyes. “Hey Lance” Dakota smiled.

“Damn girl!” Dakota laughed. “What’s with you?” Courtney smiled as she climbed down off her friend’s back. “I got a date, that’s what!”

“Well, well, well. A date huh?” Dakota smiled, happy for her friend. “So, I guess this means you’re ditchin’ me for tonight?” “Did we have plans?” Courtney asked, suddenly serious. “No, no. I’m kidding.” Dakota laughed. “Go, I hope you have a good time.” “Me too, D. Me too.” Courtney smiled.

“Oh, who the hell are you kidding? You’re going out with Lance, girl! You’re going to have an awesome time!” Dakota smiled back. “Ok, well, yeah, that’s pretty much assured. But the more important question is… What the hell do I wear?”

Both girls were engulfed into a fit of laughter, talking about that night’s future. They couldn’t even begin to know what they were getting into.
