Superman
JC watched with dead eyes as a snoring Justin drapped an arm around Britney's waist. Britney rolled over and turned to the other side. She paused for a moment as something caught her eye at the front of the bed. Her eyes widened slowly as she saw who it was.
"Shit."
Something inside of JC snapped as he got up and walked to Justin's side of the bed. Swinging back his fist, he connected with the sleeping blonde's jaw. "Get up."
Justin fell out of the bed, grabbing his cheek. "What the fuck? I was sleeping, man."
JC eyes narrowed at the sound of his voice. His eyes swiveled toward Britney, who was at the moment, unsure of what to do. "Get the fuck out of here. Now."
"But I-
"Do you really want to fuck around with me, Britney?" he growled. JC watched as the popstar quickly gathered her bearings and scampered cladly dressed out of the bedroom. He turned his attentions back to Justin, grabbing him by the neck of his shirt as Justin flailed around uselessly. He shoved a hand in his face. "Do you know what this means Justin?"
"Whaa? It's too early for riddles..."
JC swung back his fist again, this time connecting with Justin's nose.
"Oww, shit!" Justin exclaimed grabbing his face.
The older of the two lifted the younger up and slammed him against the wall, causing various pictures to fall. "Now let me ask you again. What the fuck does this mean?!"
Justin's vision focused again and he looked at JC's hand. A diamond encrusted ring was on one of the fingers. It was the ring Justin had presented JC two years ago at their wedding. He could remember sliding it on after they had exchanged vows. "I-It's our wedding ring, right?"
JC smirked and grabbed Justin's hand. "Glad to know that you remember something. But where's yours Justin? Do you know where it is?" After no reply, JC clutched onto Justin's hand with force and started to shove the blond around the room. "Hmm? Where is it, Justy? Is it lying in the trash with the condoms you used on Britney? Is it on the floor with all of heroin and coccain you've seemed to developed a taste for? Or maybe it's in one of the empty bottles of vodka that are all over the fucking house? What, no answer? Or maybe it's downstairs in the pool. Let's go and check."
Justin's head swam as he let the livid brunette dragged him out of the room and down the stairs. "Please, JC. Stop," he pleaded. "I'm so sorry, baby."
JC's grip only got tighter. "What? You don't like the rush, J? We're not done yet. We have to look in the pool. 'Cause I'm stumped on where that motherfucking piece of tin could be. Aren't you?"
"You're acting crazy," Justin mumbled, wincing when one of his arms slammed against the railing of the banister.
"You brought this on yourself. Don't fucking label me."
The two made their way outside and Justin winced from the pain on his face and the harshness of the sunlight. JC shoved him towards the pool. "Do you see it, J? Maybe we should take a closer look." No signs of remorse were present when JC punched Justin in the stomach, knocking him into the water. JC jumped in after him and let Justin surface before grabbing him by the shirt again. "Did you find it, Justin? Huh? Did you?"
Justin shivered and licked his lips before answering back painfully. "N-no."
JC let go of him, breathing heavy. "Fucking sober up. Then come inside and sign my divorce papers." He looked into Justin's dazed eyes. "I loved you, but obviously my love wasn't good enough for you. I thought that maybe if we could try together and work things out, that we might be alright." He gave a bitter laugh and shook his head. "I know not to make that mistake again. Each time you hurt me, my heart grew a little weaker and one more blow might destroy it forever. I can't take that chance, not with you...The truth of the matter is, I'm sick of your shit. I can't save you anymore, Justin."
Justin blanched and searched JC's eyes. They weren't the light and happy shade they used to be. All he saw were cold, dead, empty orbs or blue. "JC baby-
"Don't call me that!" JC shouted. He closed his eyes and paused. "Just sign the papers. That's...that's all I want from you."
Out of desperation, Justin leaned forward and captured JC's lips. For that moment, JC lost himself in the only good thing that he had ever known...and the only thing that might kill him.
JC pulled away, licking his lips. "Goodbye, J," he said softly, pulling himself out of the water. His clothes hung on his thin frame as he made his way towards the house.
"I love you, JC." Justin whispered, staring at the water.
JC froze at the sound of Justin's raspy and emotional voice. He swallowed hard, looking for the words to speak. "If you really loved me...you'd let me go. I can't be your Superman."
Justin watched helplessly as JC walked inside of the house. Moments later, he heard his jeep squeal out of the driveway. With a heavy heart, Justin managed to lift himself out of the pool. He clutched his stomach as pain reverberated off of all three parts JC had hit.
A rumble of thunder was heard in the distance and not long after, rain began to fall. Justin raised his face towards the sky, raindrops coming down on him in reverence.
I loved you....I can't save you anymore...You'd let me go...
He closed his eyes and wept for the best thing he had lost.
