Trapped in a glass box
No. 2 - Street Performing with Lindsay

So you want to join the ranks of semi-professional mime artists that clutter up Covent Garden in London with their hillarious japes of finding themselves trapped within glass boxes and juggling poor animals....

You do? You`re Mad!!!... Then read on!

"So, tell us about your miming Lindsay"

"Miming eh?... Any fool can do this" says our Lindsay, "Just getting it to look right, is the hard part. It takes years of practice and watching Top Of The Pops is an added advantage, the miming on there is quite good some weeks."

"Sorry, not the Top Of The Pops mime, but the time you spent in Covent Garden, when you done street performing... You remember?" - I had to remind Lindsay of her misspent days

"Oh.. that", she said uneasy, "Hmm, yeah.. I remember.. I had to pass the time between each song, didn`t I? Plus the extra money came in handy, we may be pop stars, but there`s still the phone bill at the end of the week..."

"Plus you didn`t get much money from the official merchandise, because there wasn`t really that much... just the odd book and a video that was only release in the US"

"Yeah, releasing the video only in the US was really stupid, we may have sold a few copies there, but we cut off our own fans!" - I could sense the anger deep inside her. "But I done my miming, and the others done whatever they wanted."

"So what was your most favourite routine that had the spectators in stitches?"

"Definitely being trapped in a glass box. I guess everyone loves that one" - she gave a little chuckle - "I tried so much to get out of the box at one point, I slipped and fell onto my suitcase that had all my juggling equipment in it.... the stuff went everywhere" Lindsay`s hands darted out in all directions, as if she was dancing to rave music - "the people loved it.. so I used it as part of my routine next time"

"So you done juggling as well then?"

"Yeah, juggling... found it best performed with proper juggling balls, ya know, the leather ones filled will beads.. these don`t bounce as much as those tennis balls do and they had the added advantage of not rolling away. Smart little buggers those juggling balls". The strange glint in Lindsay`s pretty brown eyes told me there was more to know.. "For an even stranger twist - I used knives and kippers and had the audience held in amazement by juggling, filleting, gutting, curing and frying during the performance...", her hands fluttered around in front of her face, mystical and inspiring, "It does take some mighty fine practicing, but it is worth it! "

"And breakfast is a good start to the day." I added, to which Lindsay stared stonely into my eyes, raised her left hand and pointed to the door.
The interview was over.

I didn`t want to but I left her, hunched on the floor, rocking very slightly, side to side.

Things To Note:

As you can see from the recent photo of poor Lindsay, miming finally got to her mind. So for her own good and the sanity of the rest of the girls, they had to lock her away within her own padded cell (Delicate hint of Apple White, 3½ inch standard).
They thought it unkind to bind Lindsays arms in a straight jacket, so they left her as they found her, but they did remove the white face paint and white cotton gloves.

Lindsay still thinks back to the good old days of Covent Garden and attempts to perform the classic `Trapped In A Glass Box` routine whenever the men in white coats do the rounds each morning. (As shown)

There are no known photos of Lindsay miming in Covent Garden, but if you do.. please send them in (a prize for any that are shown!)

Lindsay will hopefully, one day, get better. It will take time, patence and a whole lot of love.
But she`s mine and I love her.

As the door slammed shut behind me, Lindsay had the last word....
Don`t do it kids, it just ain`t worth it!

This is all made up and never happened... if Lindsay ever did do some street performing, then let us know!
