I didn't know how to react, Brian had started crying harder though, A.J. had tears slip from his cheeks. But then a million questions ran through my mind. Was this all because of when I left, was it because of the group, was Nick even alive. He must be they wouldn't still be here.
"What room is he in?"
"Right across the hall, but the doctors wont allow any visitors just yet." Howie told me taking my hand.
"His parents we should."
"They are stuck in the Keys due to the hurricane. They will be up as soon as they can."
"Excuse me, are any of you relatives?" A Doctor came in.
"No, but best friends. How is he?" Kevin had stood up, taking charge of the situation.
"He'll be just fine. We sewed up both of his wrist, but we did have to do a blood transfusion. He will be able to leave in one or two days. But will undergo therapy every other day. Here is a number you can call for an appointment."
"Thank you. May we see him?"
"Well, he really needs his rest, but two at a time and only for about an hour."
"Thank you Dr. Green." Kevin read off his name tag. The doctor nodded and left.
"Brian and Kara can go first."
"No Kevin, you go with Brian. Then A.J. and Howie and I can go with Stacey."
"You sure?"
"Positive now go!" I watched as Kevin put a comforting arm around his cousin as the two walked into the hallway and into Nick's room.
"Kare, you alright?" I turned my attention from space to A.J.
"As soon as I kick Nick's ass for pulling this, yeah." I pulled a smile.
"You're so strong kid, you know that?"
"Oh yeah, real strong." I said softly to myself.
~*~In Nick's Room~*~
"Nick, you awake?" Brian asked in a whisper.
"Yeah." Was Nick's response. It was a weak one but to Brian it was music to his ears.
"Don't ever do that to me again! God Nick why didn't you come talk to me?"
"I-I tried to, you were busy with Annie and...I'm not in the mood for talking just yet." Brian nodded his head and gave Nick a hug.
"And where is mine?"
"Come here Kev."
"Uh-there are a few others wanting to see you. But we'll be back later." Nick nodded his head towards Kevin and watched him walk out.
"Nick man."
"Yeah Bri?"
"I love you."
"You too." With that Brian walked out of the room. He leaned against the wall and slid to the ground. I saw this and went over to him.
"I didn't know what to say to him, he looks so weak, and I keep seeing him just laying on his floor...God why?" I embraced Brian and saw Howie and A.J. go into his room.
"Listen to me, he's alive, and he's alive because of you!"
"I told him that I love him, but I should've said it sooner." I gently rocked Brian and wiped away his tears.
"Kara you can go in and see him, Stacey just went in. I'll take care of him."
"Thanks A.J." I stood up with the help of A.J's hand and walked into Nick's room. I slammed the door behind me.
"Kara?"
"You got it Nick. Now, tell me, what the hell were you thinking?! What gave you the right to try to take away your life, to take away MY life?"
"How did you find out?"
"Howie called me. I am sure Brian would've but he couldn't even speak he was so upset. And he was more upset when he walked out of this room he couldn't hold himself up."
Nick put his head down.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you!" I walked closer to him and lifted his chin. He was crying. " Nick, don't you know that so many people care and love you? And I'm talking about more than just the fans. Why didn't you come to me?"
"I-I couldn't." I sat on the edge of his bed, took my thumb and brushed away his falling tears.
"You're my baby, I don't know what I would do without you." My voice was softer and more gentle now. "Nick, I know you're going through a rough time, but this,"
I took his hands and held them up, " is this really necessary?"
"At the time yes."
"And now?"
"I don't know? I don't know if I should be happy I'm alive or pissed because Brian found me."
That stabbed me right in the heart. I stared at Nick into his tense blue eyes. It was the only color of his face. He was rather pale, ghostly pale.
"Kara."
"Nick?"
"Don't leave me ever again."
"I wont, ever."
"Promise?" I kept quiet for a minute.
"Promise Nick." I'll be with you in some kind of form. I thought to myself.
