ASHLEY PARKER ANGEL : Otown's sweet-hearted hottie. Ashely Parker Angel is a confident enough blond to experiment with his look - but sometimes things get out of hand!
Like in late 2001 when rumors had ashley going from blond to strawberry blond to full-on redhead to white-blond.
"I'm back to platinum blond all over my head," he laughed, explaining the history of his head. "It was orange. They went to put highlights n it and it kinda turned orange on the side and it kinda turned a little bit of fuchsia - orange-pink - and so i went in and dyed all my hair. I'm now a complete towhead - I haven't looked like this since i was two."
But though you've seen months' worth of pix of Ash with platinum blond locks in popstar! that doesn't mean the look lasted! In fact, he only had the ultra-light for a matter of a day before peer pressure (in the form of Jacob, Erik-Michael, Trevor, and Dan!) drove him back to his usual dirty-blond spikes.
Besides blondness, another consistent thing about Ashley Parker Angel is his inability not to live up to his last name. Not only is he angelic, he's also got a child-like sense of wonder about him, one that popped like black on yellow when we asked him his favorite all time tv shows.
"Growing Pains, The Adventures of Louis and Clark, Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles..."
He's also famously good-natured. "We've got lots of questions for you, " we warned him before a recent, legthy interview.
"I would love to answer them!" he shot back.
Part of what makes Ashley an angel is his love of music.
"I have to have music," he told us exclusively. "I gotta have my guitar so i can just jam when I'm alone in my room or so i can write some lyrics to some stuff and create."
The most inspirational peice of music he's listened to lately is one that is the prefered cd for a lot of the younger popstar gerneration - Michael Jackson's under-appreciated *invincible*. it points to a lifelong love for the ecentric artist, and for the kind of classic r&b and funky pop music that ashley hopes otown also creates.
"i love *invincible*. im so glad michael jackson came out with some more music. ive been such a huge fan forever."
ashley and otown already have their share of *forever fans* thanks in no small part to their work ethic - thats something fans see firsthand at concerts and hear in the music, even if the critics sometimes look the other way. one reason ashley was so happy with the third season of *making the band* was his beleif that it showed a more rounded picture of him and the boys.
"the third season was the best season because it was a totally different sense of the title *making the band*. it finally showed us in the stages of where we've dreamt and wanted to be. al the hard work that we've put in has now gotten us to the point where we're in front of 20,000 people every night we tour."
ashley seemed dazzed by his own good fortune.
what's next for otown?
"writting our own material for the album," ashley confirmed. "its an exciting time for us so it will be an exciting time for the fans."
but what's even *more* exciting is the idea of a movie marquee with *starring: ashley parker angel* on it.
"when are you gonna be a movie star?" we bluntly asked the boy who everyone *knows* longs to be an actor.
"its always interested me, the people who have been major successes in the music industry who can make the corssover. its accepted if you have the talent - will smith, madonna, bon jovi, usher." but he's practical. he has stardom in his sights, but not stars in his eyes.
"i think its about the right role, and for me, i don't wanna do anything thats gonna pigeonhole me, so i would want to do something that would strech people's limitations of what the expect from someone like me."
