Carrisa walked alone through the garden. She loved to be there, alone by the small stream just listening to the water trickle alone. She remembered the times she had come out by the stream with him, they just sat together and he had wrapped his arms around her. She could still feel him, she could hear his voice "Promise you’ll never forget me.."
She looked at their favorite rose bush. There was one perfect bloom. Carrisa picked it and placed it behind her ear. She had finally rebuild herself enough to come outside. After the accident, nothing was the same. All she had was the tiny scar on her shoulder from the three stitches they put is. He wasn’t so lucky. The police told her that if he had swerved the other direction that she would have died instantly. She figured out after that when he saw the car coming at them, that he knew it was him or her. She didn’t want to admit to herself that he was gone.
Out there by the stream, all 5’6" of Carrisa collapsed on her knees. She sobbed, rubbing her eyes on her shirt sleeve. She whispered to the sky, "Justin, I’ll never forget you, I promise."
A cool breeze blew gently by. Carrisa swore she could hear his voice, "I’ll always love you." The words carried on the breeze.
