"I’m gone, bye you guys" "Maggie, don’t leave" her mom called after her "what are you going to do with your life?" "Mom, I bought my plane ticket, face it, I’m 18 and out of this house. Good-bye" With that she ran out to her car, bookbag and carryon in hand. She drove off quickly, not looking back, she got to her best friends house. "Hey Trish, You get my car for a while. To the airport" She handed her friend the keys. "I still don’t understand why you’re doing this, you could go to college, after all you got accepted." "For the first time in my life I’m doing what I want to do" they drove on "Trish, thanks for supporting me." "You just better call me" "You know I will" they both laughed.

"I’ll see you later" Maggie hugged Trish. She wasn’t one for long drawn out good-byes. They did their secret handshake, and Maggie got on the plane that would take her to her new life. She had money, all that she’d been saving was on her bank card. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do, or even where she was going to go. She was ready to step out on her own. "We are making our final descent. We would like to be the first to welcome you to Orlando Florida" Maggie looked out the window and smiled. "home" she whispered, "this will be my home"
