*Chapter 13*

When she woke up, she saw that her mother had gone and Nick had showed up.
 

"Hey sleeping beauty. How ya feeling?" Nick asked her, as he sat down in the chair next to her bed.
 

"Sore. But I feel better then I did. Do you know when my mom left?"
 

"No, I don't. She had lest by the time we got here."
 

"We?"
 

"Yeah, AJ came along too. He wanted to see Cass."
 

Mercedes looked over and say AJ sitting next to Cassidy's bed. "How long have you been here?"
 

"Only about half an hour."
 

"Oh, ok."
 

They heard a soft moaning noise coming from the other side of the room. They looked over and saw that Cass was waking up.
 

"You guys," AJ said softly, "She's waking up."
 

"I'll page the doctor." Mercedes reached over and grabbed the phone. "Yes, hello. My roommate, Cassidy Starr, just woke up. I thought maybe the doctor might like to see her. She paused, then said, " We're in room 213. Okay, thank you." She hung up the phone. "They're going to send the doctor in."
 

A few minutes later, the doctor walked in. "I heard someone was waking up?" he walked over to Cass' bed. AJ moved out of his way. "How are you feeling?"
 

"Tired. Other then that, ok. I'm a little sore."
 

The doctor started to check her stats. "Well, everything looks good to me. Let me know if you need anything. We're going to be keeping you and you're friends over night just to make sure everything's ok."
 

"Okay." The doctor left the room. "Oh, hey J. I didn't see you. what are you doing here?"
 

"Nick came to see Mercedes, and I decided to come see how you were doing."
 

Cassidy's face lit up and she smiled. "Oh, that's sweet of you. Thanks."
 

"No prob."
 

"Oh! I should call my mom, let her know I'm ok." She reached over and picked up the phone.
 

"9 to get out." Mercedes told her.
 

"K." She dialed her mom's number. "Hello, mom? Hi. Oh, they did? What did they tell you? Yeah, that's about it. Yeah, I just woke up. Ok...ok.....k, bye." She hung up, and turned her attention to AJ. "How long have you been here?"
 

"Not long. Only about half an hour,45 minutes."
 

"Ok." She turned to face Mercedes and Nick. "Hi Nick."
 

"Hi"
 

"Hey girl. How you doing? She asked Mercedes.
 

"Not bad. The doctor said we're really lucky."
 

"How are Sarah and Gracie?"
 

"Good. They're two rooms down."
 

They talked for a little while longer, then the nurse cam in to let them know that visiting hours were over.
 

"Well, I guess we'll be going then. Later Mercedes." Nick gave her a kiss on the check.
 

"Later baby. Do you have a ride home tomorrow?" AJ asked her.
 

"I think so. Mercedes, can your mom give me a ride home?"
 

"Yeah."
 

"Ok, good. Call me when you get in, ok?"
 

"Sure thing." Cass told AJ.
 

He kissed her forehead, and walked toward the door. In unison, Nick and AJ said " Bye girls" and walked out the door.
 

"Isn't that sweet of them to stop by?" Mercedes asked, as she smiled.
 

"Yeah."
 

They chatted a little more, until they got tired. "Oh man. I am so tired. *yawn* I think I'm gonna go to sleep. Night Cass."
 

"Night."
