Chapter 1

***3 Years Later- 2000***

The guys were on their U.S. Millennium tour. They had gotten extremely large in the states. They were going through Texas and spending two weeks vacation there.

“Yo Bri, does this place look familiar to you?” Kevin asked when they stopped at a rest area.

“Yeah! Isn’t this that place where we went to that country club?” Brian laughed.

Kev smiled, “Yeah.....oh yeah!”

“What?” Brian asked.

“Do you remember that girl?”

Brian nodded, “Jess.”

“Yeah. What’s Frack gonna do when he sees where we are?” Kevin asked.

“I don’t know. Just don’t mention anything to him. I wonder if she still lives here...”

“Who knows. Maybe you could check that old club out tonight with AJ and Howie. I will stay with Nick, because once he figures out where we are, I doubt he will want to go.” Kev said.

“Sounds good. What if we find her?”

“I don’t know Bri, see if she remembers you first. Then maybe we can get her and Nick back together,” Kev said.

“Sounds cool. Think about how he was for that year after. If he sees her, he would be the happiest man alive!” They slapped each other high five and got back on the bus.

**6:00 PM**

“Ally! Can you find Nicky’s shoes?” Jess yelled from the bathroom.

“Already done. We’re waiting on you!” Ally said coming to the door.

“Ok, ok, purse, got it, let’s go!” The three got in the car and were on their way.

“Mommy?” Nicky asked.

“Yeah angel?”

“Where’s my daddy?” Jess froze when her daughter said that.

“Why honey?” she asked.

“Auntie Ally took me to the park and my fwiend Julie had a daddy. Do I have one?” Tears started to fill Jess’s eyes. She knew it was coming sometime.

“Well sweetie, uh, your daddy is, um, he’s away at work.” Jess tried to say simply. Technically, she wasn’t lying.

“Oh. Whats daddy look like?” Nicky asked. Ally looked at Jess from the drivers seat. She could tell this was very hard for her friend. Jess opened her purse and took out a picture. It was one that Kevin had taken of Nick, Jess, and Brian at the beach. Nick and Brian were about to throw her in the water.

“Nicky, this is your daddy,” Jess said pointing at the picture.

“Oh. Who’s the other man?” Nicky asked.

“That’s daddy’s friend Brian. They are in a singing group called the Backstreet Boys...” Jess started to cry now.

“Don’t cry mommy. Do you miss daddy?” Jess nodded. “When he and Brian come back?”

“I don’t know sweetie,” Jess said as they pulled into the club parking lot.”I don’t know...” Jess had followed their careers. She saw them on tv and often saw Nick with a girl at award shows. She knew he wouldn’t be back anytime soon. He had forgotten about her. She took her daughter out of the car and hugged her tight.

“I love you angel.”

“I wuv you too mommy.”
