"Fools!" The men in white's boss shouted. "You got outsmarted by an eighteen year old boy, a very sick eighteen year old boy at that! If he's found, we're ruined! I should have you all shot. We have government technology, and you still can't track him down! There's only so far he could go. Argh! LEAVE!" The men in white scrambled for the door.
Robyn turned her back to the door. "So hard to find good help these days," she mumbled. She walked into the laboratory to her right, wearing a mask and protective gear. Everything in the lab was white and sterile, and everyone had on their protective gear. Small padded rooms surrounded the lab, but only one was occupied. The rooms had only one window, and that was on the door. Unfriendly bars crossed those windows.
Everyone stood at attention when Robyn walked into the lab. "Listen up people," she commanded, stepping forward, "As we know, there is a trader in our midst. A certain someone who left the door unlocked, letting our most prized experiment run free. Now, if one of you doesn't fess up, I will kill all of you." She paused and surveyed the room. "There are fifty of you in this unit. I've killed countless people. With me, people vanish off the face of the earth. This is not an idle threat. So come on now, who's got the balls?"
Robyn saw a small blond step forward. She squinted her eyes, trying to read her name tag. "Belinda! Ahhh, come on, come here, don't be shy. So, are you religious?"
"A bit, ma'am."
"A bit? Oh good. Because you won't be going to heaven for what you've done. Don't you realize that you have exposed countless people to the disease WE created? Now there might even be an epidemic. Come closer Hun."
Belinda walked right up to her. "Take my hand." Belinda obediently took her gloved right hand. "Good." Robyn smiled. She squeezed Belinda's hand until it snapped. Then she twisted her arm in a 360º circle, smiling when she heard its sickening snap. Belinda screamed in agony.
"Oh I'm not done with you yet. You have cost us time, and time is very precious around here. Don't EVER waste my time!" Her eyes bulged madly, and a vein in her throat throbbed. She threw Belinda down on the floor and dragged her to a padded room by her feet. Robyn stood by the door, watching, amused, for a few more seconds as Belinda tried desperately to get up. She stopped and turned to Robyn, blood pouring down her swollen face.
"You have committed the ultimate crime," Robyn told her, lighting a match, "This has happened before, never let your pity get to you. That's how he got away the first time. We all remember Cindy don't we?" There was a muffled "yes". Robyn threw in the match and shut the door firmly.
She began calmly discussing their situation. "We need to shut off any roads leading from that hotel. The chances are that he either hitch hiked or snuck a ride in the back of a car. Whatever the case this needs to be done. No one escapes from the government." Belinda's screams grew louder from inside the cell. She had gotten up from the ground and was clutching the bars, screaming in agony. Her hands were on fire, and the heat was melting the bars. The rancid smell of burnt flesh and hair filled the lab as she burned. Flesh was oozing off of her face and her skull was gruesomely exposed. Finally the screams ceased.
"Lordy! That's the second room this week. I hope she learned her lesson. She'll be enjoying a lot more flames in hell." She threw her head back and laughed. "That's what we have gas masks for! The smell of burning flesh! And in case an epidemic breaks out here again." She walked over to the other occupied cell. "Her accomplice. Not Belinda's accomplice, not Cindy's accomplice, but Samantha's accomplice. You thought that you'd get away with it, didn't you? A likely story." The young, dark haired man stared back at Robyn with blank eyes.
"You thought you had it all figured out, didn't you? Stabbing me with a syringe, ha! I'm a lot tougher than I look. Plus I have all the antidotes. Of course I lost all of my hair, but who needs hair anyway! I hope you're enjoying YOUR syringe. That's what you get for trying to kill me. You're shriveling up like a damn prune! Too bad you didn't lose your hair. That would have been the icing on the cake. While you're dying slowly, you're friend Susannah is suffering a similar fate." The man's blank eyes continued their vacant stare.
"Ash!" Robyn called, summoning her adviser. Ash practically ran into the room, just to heed her command. "I want you to do some footwork today. Go to highway 140 and do road checks. Take as many people as you can fit in two trucks and search their vehicles. Say some criminals are heading for the border with pot in their cars or something. Oh, and get this cell fixed."
"Yes, ma'am," she took off in a hurry, almost as fast as she came.
