Chapter 10

Brian watched, helpless, as the men in white surrounded him. They took blood samples, C.A.T scans and examined his heart. The men found no trace of the disease they were looking for.

Brian noticed from the window that there was a lot of screaming going on outside the door, and a lot of people passing by. One lady looked at him from the window for a long time. He smiled at her, and she started to cry. When Brian was finally released, he found out that his friends had all been given shots at the same time. Robyn found it more convenient.

He was moved again to another room, which was much more like a cell, and it wasn't padded. It took him a while to realize that he wasn't actually in it, but outside it, in a small part of it. Robyn came into the larger inclosed room, where Brian was looking into, and spoke to Brian through the bars.

"I thought you might like to watch an old friend suffer. Not that you like the guy anymore, or anything." Brian watched as they wheeled Jansin into the room. His anger bubbled within him.

"Well, I'll leave you two for an ironic moment hoping that you will talk to each other, therefore renewing your anger. Ta, ta." Jansin was strapped to a stretcher, his head tied down to so that he had to face Brian. He looked at him sadly, but Brian wasn't feeling very forgiving.

"Look what you've done to us. You've tortured us, and didn't even give us a chance. Why didn't you tell us? I guess you're gonna come up with some crappy excuse like: 'That's not a good thing to tell a perfect stranger.' No friend would do this." Jansin opened his mouth and gagged a bit, and Brian watched as a trickle of blood flowed out of it. He tried to talk, but was interrupted by Ash.

"Okay, time's up! Men, give him the shots." Ash left the room and eight men entered, all wearing body suits, gas masks, and eye gear. Brian felt a little strange not having one, so he covered his nose and mouth with his shirt, just to be safe.

They stripped Jansin down to his underwear, revealing many patches of infected skin and deep blue bruises. Around the stomach area, there were countless puncture marks. The men kept Jansin's face toward Brian, and he could read the fear on Jansin's face.

The men each held long needles, all filled with a clear, deadly substance. Brian could tell by the way they held the needles that they were potent, and he wished that he could get out of there. Brian watched, horrified, as one of the men stabbed Jansin with the needle, right into the stomach. His body lurched forward, but the tight bands held him in place. Brian saw that he had pulled so hard on them, that he was starting to bleed.

The men injected six more needles after that one, and Jansin could hardly breathe, Brian saw. His chest was hardly moving up and down. Jansin started to cough, then had a fit of coughs. This brought up dark red blood, some of which landed on the suits of the men in white. They freaked and ran out of the room. Brian saw a few of them strip outside the door. Jansin just kept throwing up blood.

Brian felt sympathy for him that just a few minutes ago he never thought possible. It wasn't Jansin's fault, he was trying to escape from this all out brutality. He realized that he would have done the same thing...if he could only escape.

He was so fixated by the situation, he hardly noticed how hard he was gripping the bars, and that a man was trying to pull him away. Brian's eyes were wide with shock. Brian was brought back to his cell, and tossed brutally inside. He walked around in a wide-eyed daze. When he finally snapped out of it, he noticed how crammed the room was. All the guys were there now, including two girls, one he knew was Charn, and the other introduced herself as Chrissy. Brian also noticed Nick and AJ had their arms around Charn and Dakshana.

"This is no time for your silly worthless relationships!" he screamed at them, then recoiled, noticing their shocked expressions.

"I'm sorry, sorry...sorry. I don't know what...came over me..." Brian sat down on the bed, his head in his hands.

"Brian, what are they doing to you?" Nick asked putting an arm around his friend. Tommy sat down beside Brian on the bed.

"Nothing! Yet...They...I'm jealous I guess."

"Of what?" Tommy asked, eyeing him, " You already have a girlfriend back home, unless you're so sure that she's cheating on you."

"No, no it's not that. It's just that, they made me break up with her on the phone. I'm not sure if she got the message, but...they're so awful! I'm awful, I shouldn't have said that."

"It's okay man, we totally understand. If they do that to me I'll..." AJ started.

"They had a loaded gun."

"Oh."

Everyone was feeling crappy at this point, so they went to sleep, Brian noticed that Nick had fallen asleep with his arm around Dakshana, but Brian didn't say anything.
