Chapter 3
Game Plan
The next day, Jessy found herself lying by Aaron on the carpet in front of
the TV, helping with his game of Final Fantasy VIII. Mrs. Morris asked that
she stay at the Carter's today because she had to work. Jane didn't mind, in
fact, she welcomed this new girl into her house.
"What do I do? What do I do?" Aaron asked panicking at the site of a major
boss battle headed his way. "Come on! I have no idea!" He pleaded. Aaron put
the game on pause and threw the controller at Jessy.
Nick jumped down the last few steps and walked into the living room. He
glanced to see what his little brother was doing and then went to the kitchen.
Jessy took over the game when Aaron got up and went into the hall.
"Nick, BJ's home!" Aaron yelled from the hall.
"Yes! Did you get it?" Nick exclaimed as he slid toward his sister.
"Yes, calm down Nicky, geeze. Is she here?" BJ responded as she handed Nick
the game book he asked for.
"Aaron, is your friend what's-her-name, uh, Jessy here? She asked again
"Yes she is, or at least she was anyway," he replied going back into the
living room. Jessy was not there. The game had been saved, so Aaron turned
off the TV.
In the kitchen, Jessy straitened her crimson velvet shirt, and brushed all
the fuzzies off her kakki flares and went into the living room.
"Aaron. I am right here, I just went out to put my glass in the dishwasher, I
didn't go anywhere." Jessy said calmly, even if she was shaking inside.
Aaron just nodded, "Oh. Well, I want you to meet my sister-"
"BJ, hi, I am Jessy" She finished. Aaron gave a surprised look and glanced at
BJ. She thought that is was great.
Smiling, BJ said, "Hi, so I hear you are quite the new trend around here." As
she sat down on the couch and taking off her purse.
"Well, I don't know about a trend, but I am still getting used to LA." Jessy
answered taking a seat on the couch next to BJ.
"So how do you like LA so far? This is your first extended stay right?"
"Yes. Well," Jessy started, "it is a lot different than Paradise, that's my
hometown."
"Hmmm, I want to talk to you girl to girl, but I am afraid that they cant
listen in." BJ said hinting to Aaron who was standing by Jessy and Nick who
just walked into the room.
"Well, all right. Hey, Buddy, I will be back kay?" Jess said to Aaron, who
pouted and then said it was all right if she helped him with his game of
Final Fantasy VIII. Jessy chuckled and agreed.
"Okay, come on, to my room," BJ said pulling Jessy by the arm up the stairs. They went down the hall at the top of the stairs, and opened a door. It was a
large room, with white and blue as the dominant colors. Along one wall was a
twin bed, made and neat, a dresser, desk, table, and a walk in closet. Photos
and posters were scattered on any space that was poem.
"Well, it looks like I am going to be putting laundry away while we are
talking." BJ said closing the door behind Jessy. She shrugged and walked into
the room a bit further.
"So, do you like him?" BJ asked Jessy, folding a shirt and putting it into a
drawer.
"Excuse me?" Jessy inquired, surprised at the question, and getting suddenly
very nervous.
"Do you like him? Nick I mean." She repeated. "He likes you, you know."
Jessy was stumped. He likes me? She thought. Do I like him? "Well, I don't
know. I never gave it much thought before now." Jessy answered, not knowing
what else to say. "How do you know he likes me?"
"Deary, he is my brother, I have full access to his room, and he talks in his
sleep." BJ stated, snickering as she said it.
Jessy spotted a shirt that caught her eyes, she knew it would be off subject
but she said, "hey, that is a cute shirt!" pointing to the baby blue tee
shirt with the square neck, hanging in the closet.
"Oh, this one? You want it? I don't wear it anymore." She said tossing the
shirt on the bed next to Jessy.
"Thanks, I have not seen these shirts anywhere, they don't sell them
anymore." Jessy said picking it up and looking at it.
"Do you want to have this skirt too? It looks great with the shirt." She said
tossing it to Jessy.
"Oh, wow, thanks again!" Jessy exclaimed, meaning every word.
"Well, try them on!" BJ urged, pushing her to the walk-in closet.
While Jessy changed, BJ finished putting her clothes away. It didn't take
long before Jess stepped into the room.
"Hey Jessy! You look cute!" BJ exclaimed. She pointed to a full-length mirror
so she could see for herself. Jessy was genuinely surprised at how she
looked. She looked hot! Both the shirt and skirt fit perfectly. She was able
to take a real look at herself now; she had clipped her long blond hair up,
letting her bangs hang down along the sides of her roundish face. She had
tanned a little (Finally!) and her ever-changing eyes were now a dark
turquoise blue.
"I have something to ask you, not like the last question." BJ confessed. She
handed Jessy her pants and shirt.
"Sure, what?" Jess answered her, still checking out how she looked.
"Well, Nick took or is taking a game of Aaron's games." BJ started, smiling
to herself. What a plan! She thought.
"Yeah, and." Jess trailed off, turning around to face her.
"He won't give it back to him. It is one of his little jokes. He told me
yesterday. You need to get it back." BJ said flatly.
"Why me? Why not someone who has 'full access' to his room? You or Aaron
maybe?" Jessy asked.
BJ laughed "No one else could do it, he would know when we went in. I cant, I
can hardly get in when he is asleep, and he does not let Aaron in unless he
is there, and he can tell when he is there. Plus, Aaron does not even know
that the game is gone or is going to be gone."
"So that leaves me right?" Jessy asked sitting on a stool next to the desk.
"Right. We, or rather I have the plan figured out, boy, he won't even get it
till its too late." BJ continued. "You see, it will have to be tomorrow, now
when you come over-"
"BJ! Jessy? Mrs. Morris is here, Jessy needs to go!" Aaron's voice came
through the door. The glass handle turned and he came into the room. Aaron
stopped in his tracks when he saw his friend. Even for someone so much
younger than Jessy, he thought she looked great.
"Wow Jessy, what's the occasion?" he joked, "Hey Nick! Check this out!" he
yelled to his brother down the hall.
Nick came in behind Aaron and like his little brother, was struck with the
beauty of this new friend, he stopped and looked in awe at her.
"Wow, I mean, Jessy, your grandmother is here." He said. BJ smiled knowing
what he saw. Jessy was hot looking to any guy in the light shirt that showed
off her full figure and the dark skirt that made the eyes wonder over this
blond beauty.
Nick had to shake himself from the hands that held him looking at his new
friend, she was hot, and he knew it. He just refused to think of her as
anything more than a friend.
"Thanks Nick, could you tell my granny that I will be down in a few seconds
okay?" Jess asked sweetly.
"Uh, yeah." He replied and pulled Aaron out of the room and shut the door.
"Did you do what I thought you did?" Aaron asked teasing a bit. "You liked
what you saw huh?" he continued. When Nick's face flushed, he knew that it
was a yes answer. "If it makes any difference, I thought she looked pretty
darn good too, but that wont help you too much." Aaron said. Nick gave him a
smack upside the head laughing, and went downstairs to deliver the message.
In BJ's room, Jessy gathered her stuff and gave BJ her grandmothers phone
number.
"Hey Jessy, did you see how Nick looked at you?" BJ asked
"Uh, yeah, that is why I am considering changing back into my pants before I
go back down there." Jessy mumbled.
"Oh don't do that, it will be a waste of time. Hey, but I will call you so we
can discuss the 'plan' Kay?" she answered.
"Okay. And thanks again for the new threads, and it was nice meeting you, I
am sure we will again." Jessy said as she left the room and headed for the
stairs. BJ watched the girl disappear down the stairs and congratulated
herself at her accomplishments. She smiled to herself and then disappeared
into her room.
When she got downstairs, Jessy's grandmother was talking to Jane, so she went
into the living room. Nick and Aaron were trying to get through a part in
Aaron's game of Final Fantasy VIII. Jessy stood there until Nick felt her
eyes on him.
"You think that you can help us out here in stead of watching silently?" He
joked, sitting up.
"Well, all right, I guess." Jessy hesitated; just to be a pain in the butt,
acting like she really didn't want to play the game with them.
Five minutes later, Jess had to leave. She looked back at the house as her
grandmother pulled out of the driveway. Tomorrow is going to be an
interesting day she thought to herself.
