Chapter Two
Ali:
Around 11:30am someone knocked on my door.
“Man, why d’ya gotta wake me up for?” I half yelled, opening the door.
“Ali, you gotta get ready, we’re gonna rehearse some before we audition.” Billie told me.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m getting ready now. I’ll be out in 15 no later.”
“Ok, see ya.” I closed the door and began getting ready for today. This is our chance, I can’t believe it’s truly happening, but I’m so totally excited. I got dressed and put my make up on then my shoes. I went out of my room and everyone was up and ready for the day.
“Everyone ready for out big day?” Danica asked us.
“Yep. Ready as I’ll ever be.” I answered.
“Good, there’s a basketball court across the street, we’re gonna practice there.” Billie informed us. We went down stairs and outside, then walked across the street to the basketball court.
“’Heart beat’ girls” I said. Claire started the tape, the music began. I did the first verse, then Danica did the 2nd verse. Billie did the 3rd. We did the song perfectly, with no mess-ups, which never happens.
“That was great!” Faye exclaimed.
“Thanks. Let’s try ‘Never knew…” Billie said. We did that song w/no flaw also.
“Guys, I think our voices are telling us something.
I…” We cut Danica off before she could finish.
“Ssh! Don’t jinx us!” We screamed.
“Oh, sorry. I take it back.” She apologized.
“It’s ok. How much longer ‘til the audition?” I asked.
“About an hour.” Faye answered.
“You wanna play some b-ball?” Danica said with a question.
“I’m up for it.” Claire replied.
“Same here.” Billie said.
“Yep, me too.” I responded.
“Me three!” Faye laughed.
“Alright, let’s get started. It’ll have to be 3 against 2, but we can still do it.” Danica told us.
“How ‘bout this: Danica and Ali on one team, and Billie, Faye and I on the other.” Claire reasoned.
“That’s fine. Let’s get started!” Billie screamed. Danica got the ball out of her bag, and we had it first.
“Dana, here I’m open!” I screamed at her. She threw the ball at me and I caught it. I ran to the basket, but Billie was in front of me.
“Billie get outta my way!” I yelled.
“Nope, sorry.” She replied.
“Ali throw it here.” Danica said, and I threw it to her. She caught it and threw it into the basket.
“1-0!” She screamed. I high-fived her, and we started again. We played for about 45 minutes and Dana and I won 8-6. It was a good game. We went back to the hotel to get changed for the audition. I went into my room and got changed into my black pants and blue tank top w/stars on it. I was ready for the audition in ten minutes. I went outside of my room. Faye, Billie and Danica were already waiting.
“Where’s Claire?” I asked them.
“Still getting ready.” Faye answered.
“Oh, ok. 7 minutes, I’m getting more excited!” I exclaimed.
“So am I! I can’t wait.” Billie replied.
Claire came out of the room, ready.
“Alright, let’s go.” Danica said, walking to the elevator and pushing the button.
We followed her and got on the elevator. It brought us to the lobby. We ran to the room, and inside. Some girls were waiting outside. Billie, Danica, and I walked up to the table.
“Hi, we’re here to audition.” Danica said.
“Name’s please?” the lady asked.
“Danica Henson, Billie Perry, and Ali Baker.” I answered.
“We’re Club 3.” Billie told her.
“Oh yes, the group with the cute name. Today we’re going to be interviewing you for about an hour, and then you perform one song for us. Follow me.”
We did as she said and went into a room with chairs, a camera, and a desk. The lady sat down at the desk, and we took the chairs.
“Ok ladies, we’re going to be taping your interview for better judgement. We’re starting the taping now. Please state your names.”
“My name is Ali Baker.”
“My name is Billie Perry.”
“And my name is Danica Henson.”
“When are your birthdays, and how old are each of you?”
“I’m 22 years old, my birthday is April 8th, 1978.”
“I’m 21 years old, my birthday is January 27th, 1979."
“I’m 19 years old, and my birthday is September 18th, 1980.”
“Where did you come up with your group name, Club 3?”
“Well, the 3 of us love to go to clubs and dance, so that’s where Club comes from, and there are 3 of us.” Billie told her.
“Cool. What got you girls into music?”
“Well, I’ve loved music forever. It’s just been a part of me since I can remember and my dad always pushed me to follow my dreams and those were of music.” I explained.
“I used to sing in the Church Choir when I was little and I used to sing around the house all the time, that my mom would get so annoyed with me” Billie laughed.
“My mom got my started loving music and I have always wanted to do something with music no matter what it was.” Danica responded.
“You girls seem to really love music, so where are you from?”
“We all flew from New York, but I’m originally from California.” I said.
“I’m originally from Chicago, Illinois.” Billie replied.
“And I’m from Ft. Myers, Florida.”
“Where did you girls meet?”
“We met each other at dance class about 9 years ago, well I met Billie 9 years ago, and Danica 2 years ago.”
“Wow, that’s a long time. And you’re still good friends.”
“Yep, more than good. We’re like sisters.” Billie smiled.
We did about 20 more questions, and were done with them at 2:30.
“Ok, that’s enough questions. Now you can do your performance. One song, and do you have one?”
“Yes, its called ‘Heart beat’ which is by Steps.” I replied.
“Alright, let’s see what you girls got in ya.” She started the music. We did the song really well, and I think the lady was amazed at our talent. Then we finished the song.
“That was amazing. That’s it for today, tomorrow you have dance auditions, and another song. Some time, same place.”
“Thank you, and we’ll be here tomorrow.” Danica said, and we walked out of the room. We saw Claire and Faye waiting in the lobby for us.
“Hi, thanks for waiting for us.” Billie said.
“No prob. So how did the 1st audition go?” Faye asked.
“Rather well actually, she liked our singing and everything.” Danica replied.
“That’s great. So, what do you wanna do now?” Claire asked us.
“Hmm…Play b-ball again!” I screamed.
“Ok, we’re not gonna let you win this time!” Billie yelled, running after me to the elevator. We got changed and were out of the basketball court in 10 minutes. We had the same teams. This time Faye had the ball, I was blocking her, trying to get the ball away from her.
“Yo, get outta my way!” She yelled at me.
“No way!” I screamed back.
“Hey, Faye here I’m open!” Claire yelled at her. Faye threw the ball and Claire caught it, and ran towards the basket, dribbling the ball.
“Dana get her!” I exclaimed. Danica and I ran towards her, but she threw the ball into the basket before either of us could catch up to her.
“Hahaha! 1-0, now whose the loser?!” Claire yelled.
“Shut up. You know you’re gonna lose!” Danica said.
“Yeah, whatever. It’s your ball.” Billie informed us. Danica got the ball and started running down court. Billie got in my way, I tried pushing her out of the way, but she wasn’t moving.
“Come on Ali, get open.” Danica yelled at me.
“Hey, what’s it look like I’m trying to do. Billie just won’t get out of my way!” I screamed back.
Danica got closer to the basket and threw it. It barely got it, but finally did.
“1-1 tied!” I exclaimed.
“It won’t be for long, I promise you that.” Billie said.
“Ok, whatever.” Danica replied.
We played for an hour, our screaming got peoples attention, and they started watching us play. Some were routing for Billie, Faye, and Claire, and others were routing for Danica and I. the score was 10-11. Billie, Faye, and Claire were leading.
“Ha, we’re ahead of you!” Billie exclaimed.
“Yeah, but not for long.” I screamed back.
“Believe what you want Ali, believe what you want.” Faye repeated.
“She will, don’t worry about that. Let’s get this gam goin’” Danica responded.
The crowd was getting bigger, of all the times we’ve played basketball together; we have never attracted a crowd. Maybe Orlando is really good for us, and we’ve been living in New York for how long! Man, I really am starting to love Orlando, and Florida for that matter.
“Earth to Ali. HELLO! Here catch the damn ball!” Danica yelled at me.
“Oh, ok.” Is all I could say I caught the ball and dribbled down the court. No one caught up to me, and I made a basket.
“11-11. See I told you it would change!” I screamed.
“Yeah, but it’s still tied and we have the ball!” Claire said.
We continued the game for another 2 hours. We were having a lot of fun. We finally decided to stop coz we were getting tired. The crowd clapped for us, and we bowed. They left, the final score was 30-38, Danica and I unfortunately lost, but we still had fun and stuff. I sat down on the ground to rest and catch my breath.
“Ali, you ok?” Faye asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just resting and catching my breath.” I replied.
“Oh, ok. Let’s go back inside, and cool off.” Billie suggested.
“Ok, good idea, I need some water.” Claire responded.
I stood up, picked the ball up, and followed them to the hotel. I ran to a vending machine that had water in it. I found a dollar in change, put it in the machine, pushed the button and picked it up. I opened it and took a gulp of water.
“Ali, you thirsty?” Danica asked.
“Yep very, you want some. I could buy you some?” I offered.
“Naw, I got money. Thanks anyway.”
“No prob.”
“What are we gonna so tonight?” Faye asked us.
“I don’t know. What time is it anyway?” Billie responded.
“It’s 6:15pm.” Danica told her.
“We can’t do much, hey you wanna go swimming for a while?” Claire suggested.
“Yeah, we need to cool off!” I said.
We got on the elevator and went to our own rooms. I found my blue swimsuit. It’s a two piece, and has a white flower on the top, and plane medium blue short bottoms. I put my jean shorts on, got a towel and went outside. I decided to go down to the pool before everyone else. I had my little radio with me. I went out to the pool and no one was there. I picked a bench and sat down. I turned the radio on. ‘It’s gonna be me’ by NSYNC was on. I sat there a few minutes, then Billie, Claire, Danica, and Faye came out there, laughing like maniacs, as they always are, which I am too of course.
“Hey Ali. Ohmigod, its freaking N Stink!” Claire said, sticking her tongue out in disgust.
“It’s almost over.” I replied.
“Anyway, is any one gonna swim?” Faye asked.
“I will.” Billie screamed, she took her shorts off, ran to the deep end, and dove in. She swam to the other end, and came up for air.
“Damn girl, want to swim did we?” Danica teased.
“Yep, anyone else comin’ in?”
All four of us jumped in at the same time, causing a really big splash.
“Damn, make that splash big enough?” Billie asked, laughing.
“If you want, we can!” Claire replied.
“Nope, that’s ok.”
We swam and played Marco Polo for about 2 ½ hours. Around 8:30 we got out and went back to our rooms. I took a nice warm shower; I got out and dressed. At 9 some one knocked on my door.
“Yeah, I’m coming.” I yelled through the door. I opened it; Faye and Danica were on the other side.
“We’re gonna get something to eat, you wanna come?” Danica asked.
“Sure, let me get my sweats on and shoes. I’ll be out in a minute.” I replied. I closed the door and changed out of my pj’s into my sweats. I put my Adidas on and went back outside. Billie and Claire were ready also.
“Where are we gonna get some grub?” Claire asked.
“There’s a McDonald’s down the street, we can walk there.” Billie suggested.
“Ok, McDonald’s it is then.” Faye responded.
We walked outside and down the street to the McDonalds. It didn’t have that many people in it. We ordered out food and found a place to sit down.
“Aw, the joy of McDonald’s food. I love their fries.” Danica informed us.
“Yep, they’re way better than Burger King’s any day.” I replied. We ate for 30 minutes, then went back to the hotel.
Claire:
Once we got back to the hotel, we all went into Faye’s room.
“What are we gonna do now?” Billie asked everyone.
“I don’t know. Play a game.” I suggested.
“Yeah, ok what game?” Danica asked.
“Um…monopoly?” Faye offered.
“That’s fine. You got the game?” Ali asked her.
“Yeah, it’s in the closet. I’ll get it.” Faye stood up, went to the closet and got the game down from the top shelf. She sat back down on the floor and we all set up the game board.
“Alright, I’m the dog!” Ali exclaimed.
“I’ll be the car.” Faye said.
“I want to be the ship.” Billie replied.
“I guess I’ll be the top hat.” Danica said.
“And I’ll be the thimble.” I offered.
“Ok, I’m gonna put the radio on while we play.” Danica told us, and turned on the radio. ‘Crash & Burn’ by Savage Garden was playing.
“Let’s see who get to go first.” Faye said, she rolled the dice and got 5. Danica rolled next and got a 3. Billie then rolled and got a 7, then Ali, she got a 5 also, and I rolled and got a 9. Ali and Faye had toe roll again, since they had a tie. This time Faye got a 6, and Ali got a 2. So, I was first, then Billie, Faye, Danica, and Ali was last. I rolled the dice and got 5. I moved my thimble 5 spaces and landed on St. James Place. We played this game for 4hrs. It was pretty interesting. Unfortunately I was the 1st to go bankrupt. We decided to quit, it was 1:30 when we quit. We were tired from our productive day, and all went to our own rooms to go to sleep. I went to my room and changed into my Hawaiian pajamas. They’re black with white flowers on the shorts, and on the tank top. I went to sleep at 2am.
I woke up around ten, but didn’t get up. I just laid in bed, staring out the window. I wasn’t really thinking about anything. At 10:30 I got up, got dressed and turned on the TV to watch the news. I had a breakfast bar so I sat down and ate my bar. I finished it, and just sat there. I can safely sat that News is very boring, and why I’m watching it I don’t know. I changed the channel to MTV, MTV News Link was on, and Sisqo’s video for ‘Thong Song’ was playing. I just love his hair, it’s tha bomb! The video ended, and ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’ by Sync came on. I turned the TV off once I saw it. I hate Sync, and never want to see them or hear them for that matter. I was about to turn the radio on when someone knocked on my door. I stood up and walked to the door, opening it. Faye was on the other side.
“Good morning, how are you?” I asked her.
“Fine, it’s good to see you dressed.”
“Yep, I was watching the news but got bored, then I watched MTV by N Stink came on, so I turned it off. Now I’m standing her talking to you.”
“Productive morning I see. Anyway, um damn it I forgot what I was gonna tell you.”
“Aw, I’m sorry didn’t mean to make your forget.”
“Um…oh now I remember. Ali rented a car for us, and Danica and Billie wanna go find the Backstreet Boys houses, although I’m sure we want to find them.”
“Really, hey I’m up for it. It’s get me out of this hotel.”
“Ok, let’s go get them and get goin’.”
I got my purse and cell phone and walked out closing the door behind me. I followed Faye to Billie’s room and she knocked on the door.
“Hey, ready?” Billie asked us.
“Yep, you?” Faye replied.
“Yes, are Ali and Danica ready?”
“I don’t know, we’re gonna see now.” I said.
“Ok.” Billie walked out and locked her door. We got Ali and Danica and were ready to go explore where BSB live. How exciting!
“Who wants to drive?” Billie asked.
“I will!” Ali screamed, hopping into the drivers seat.
“That’s covered. Let’s get going.” Faye said. We had a Dodge Neon, which was kinda cute.
“Oh, does anyone know where we’re headed to first?” Ali asked.
“Let’s try to find Brian’s house 1st.” Billie suggested.
“Do you even know what it looks like? It’s not gonna say ‘Brian Littrell’s house’ you know?” Faye pointed out.
“Yeah, actually I do. But there’s a gate and I don’t know what that looks like.”
“Aw, poor Billie, doesn’t know what her Brian’s gate looks like. It’s do tragic.” I teased.
“Oh, shut up Miss Claire!”
“Yeah, yeah. Anyway, what does Mr. Littrell’s look like?” I asked.
“It’s huge; it’s white with blue trim on the outside. It’s 3 stories high, 3 car garage, glass doors.”
“Wow, sounds like a really nice house.” Danica responded.
“Yep, there’s a really nice neighborhood over there, let’s go check it out.” Ali suggested, and drove down one street with really nice and huge houses, but nothing that looked like Brian’s. We drove for an hour.
“It’s 12:30 guys, we gotta go back to the hotel for the auditions. We’ll start looking again later.” Faye said.
Ali turned around and started driving back to the hotel. We got back at 1:15 and ran inside, so that they could get changed. They got changed in ten minutes, and had five minutes ‘til the dance audition. Faye and I were allowed to watch them. We went back down stairs to the audition room, and waited in line.
“I’m not as nervous as I was yesterday.” Danica told us.
“That’s good, neither am I. I hope that I get all the steps down pat.” Ali said.
“Don’t worry, you will. I hope that they like our dances.” Billie responded.
“They will, I just know it.” Faye encouraged.
“Club 3, you’re up.” The lady said. This time, the girls had to perform in front of all the judges.
“Good Luck!” I yelled as they walked to the stage. One of them judges pushed the button to play ‘Heart beat’. The girls began their dance steps, and sang along. They did the steps really good, no mess ups, and the judges seemed to be impressed. The song ended and they bowed. The judges clapped for them.
“Ok, girls that was really good, can you sing something a cappella for us?” one of them asked.
“Sure, we’ll do a song called ‘Never knew loving you would hurt’ written by Billie and Ali.” Danica answered.
“1…2…3…” Ali started, and Billie started out, then Ali then Danica. They finished the song, and I personally think they judges were speechless.
“That was very good girls. You got some talent. That’s it for today. Come by tomorrow for more interviews, same time.” The lady said.
“Thank you.” The three of them said at the same time. The five of us went outside.
“Ok, we have one more day, and then Thursday and Friday they’re going to make the judgement. Only one group gets the chance.” Billie told us.
“And that’ll be you 3!” Faye encouraged.
“Thanx Faye and Claire for believing in us.” Danica said.
“No prob Dana. You’re out best friends, and we’re always gonna be there for you no matter what.” I replied.
“Well, what do ya wanna do now?” Ali asked us.
“Go to Disney! We haven’t been there yet.” Billie suggested.
“That’s a good idea, let’s go get ready and meet down here in 15.” Faye said.
“Alright, see ya in 15.” I responded. We went up to our floor and into our rooms. Now what should I wear to Disney? I looked through my suitcase and found some short blue jean shorts and a light pink tight tank top. I changed into them and put my sandals on. I put my make up on, and put my long hair into a ponytail. I was set to go; when I finished getting ready I went out into the hallway, locked the door, and went to the elevator pushing the button. It reached the floor and I went inside and it brought me down to the lobby. Faye and Ali were there already.
“Hey.” I said to them
“Hey girlie, how are ya?” Ali asked, hyper as usual.
“Great, and yourself?”
“Couldn’t be better.”
“That’s goof to hear. Faye, did someone give out Ali here sugar?”
“No, I don’t think so, she’s just being her normal hyper self.” Fate replied.
“Hey, you know I’m standing right here and can hear everything you’re saying.”
“Awe, poor Ali, sorry didn’t mean to offend you!” I laughed.
“Yeah, whatever, anyway can Billie and Dana get here any sooner?”
“I don’t now, you know Billie is self-conscious about her clothes. It takes her forever to find something.” Faye pointed out.
“Look, there they are!” I yelled.
“Finally, man I wanna get outta here!” Ali screamed.
“We’re here finally! Billie was panicking about what to wear, that’s what took so long.” Danica explained.
“Alright, let’s get our asses in the damn car!” Ali screamed yet again.
“Ali, honey, calm down its just Disney!” Danica laughed.
“So, I’ve never been there, Miss Florida! I don’t wanna miss my chance!”
“OK, we’re going now. I’ll drive.” Faye said.
We climbed into the rented neon, and Faye started it, and drove out of the hotel parking lot onto the road and headed towards Disney World. Ali was up front wit her, and was changing the stations constantly.
“Ali, deary pick a damn station and keep it there!” I yelled at her.
“Oh, shut up! Nothing good is on. I’m trying to find a good radio station.” Ali snapped back. Finally she picked on that was playing ‘Higher’ by Creed. We all love that song.
“Thank god, you finally found a station!” Faye exclaimed.
“Fuck off! Sorry if I annoyed you, but had to find a good song. I feel like I’m alive for the very first time…” She began singing. We all started singing also. Faye rolled the windows down and opened the sunroof, turned the volume up, and we just continued singing along. We stopped at a stoplight, and the people in the car next to us looked at us like we’re crazy, which is partly true, but we didn’t care. ‘Higher’ ended, and ‘Get a job’ by Offspring came on, and we started singing to it also. We stopped at another stoplight and some guys in the car next to us we cheering for us. We had to laugh at them.
‘Get a job’ ended and commercials came on.
“Ah man! Damn ass commercials. You can change it Ali.” Billie yelled. Ali did as she was told and changed the station. The station she changed it to was playing ‘All the small things’ by Blink 182. We started singing along to it.
“Late night come home, work sucks I know…” Billie sang.
Faye kept on driving and finally got to Disney. She turned the radio down to pay for parking. She paid and we went into the parking lot. About 5 minutes later we found a place to park.
“Ok, girls remember we’re in the Donald parking lot.” Faye told us.
“Alright, I got it. I won’t forget.” Billie replied.
“Good, now let’s go inside!” Ali exclaimed, jumping out of the car. We all got out of the car and walked to the entrance. We got to the entrance and paid to get in and all of us ran inside.
“Where to first?” I asked.
“Cinderella’s Castle!” Danica screamed. We agreed on that and went to Cinderella’s Castle, which was pretty damn cool. We looked around it.
“OK, now where?” Faye asked.
“Splash mountain.” Ali yelled, running towards the ride. We ran after her and got on the ride. It was so much fun, we got off and rode it again, got more soaked, but it was still fun.
“Ok, next?” I asked.
“Hey, look there’s a karaoke place over there, let’s go there!” Danica pointed out.
“Cool! Let’s go!” Ali screamed, we walked up and signed up to sing karaoke. They let us pick what song we wanted to sing, and Danica and Billie picked ‘As long as you love me’ by BSB. We got dressed into cute outfits.
“Are you gonna introduce us?” Ali asked the guy.
“Yep, are you ready?” he asked us, and we all nodded.
Nick:
Brian, AJ, and I were at Disney at a karaoke café (*there isn’t actually a karaoke café there, that I know of anyway), taking a rest from our busy day. Howie and Kevin were still working on some things at Epcot. We were watching the people perform. Then the guy introduced 5 girls.
“Hey everyone, here is Ali, Billie, Faye, Danica, and Claire singing ‘As long as you love me’ by the Backstreet Boys. Enjoy.”
“Great, our song.” I complained.
“Let’s see what they got.” Brian said.
The song started and the girl with the strawberry blond hair started the 1st verse.
‘Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine
I’m leaving my life in your hands
People say I’m crazy and that I am blind
Risking it all in a glance’ -Ali sang
Then the girl with reddish blond hair started.
‘How you got me blind is still a mystery
I can’t get you out of my head
Don’t care what is written in your history
As long as you’re here with me’ -Billie sang
They all sang the chorus together.
‘I don’t care who you are
Where you’re from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you’re from
Don’t care what you did
As long as you love me’
Then the girl with light brown hair sang.
‘Every little thing that you have said and done
Feels like it’s deep within me
Doesn’t really matter if you’re on the run
It seems like we’re meant to be.’ -Danica sang.
They all sang the chorus again, then the strawberry blond sang again.
‘I’ve tried to hide it so that no one knows
But I guess it shows
When you look into my eyes’ -Ali sang.
‘What you did and where you’re from
I don’t care, as long as you love me, baby.’ -Billie sang.
They did the chorus and finished the song and I gotta say they kicked ass. Brian, AJ and I got up and clapped, and cheered for them, as did everyone else, the crowd got bigger than it was before the started.
“Wow, that was good. You girls got some real talent. Introduce yourselves, please?” the guys asked them.
“Hey, I’m Ali Baker.” The strawberry blond said.
“Hello, I’m Danica Henson!” The light brown haired one said.
“Hi Disney! I’m Faye Richards.” The brown haired one said.
“Hey everyone, I’m Claire Roberts.” The tallest of the 5 responded.
“Well, thank you Ali, Danica, Faye, Billie, and Claire. Have fun, laterz!”
They got off stage and into the back room.
“Man, those girls got some talent.” Brian said.
“Yeah, and they’re cute too!” AJ exclaimed.
I wasn’t really paying attention to them, I was thinking about that Danica girl.
“Nick! Hello Nick! Nicolas!” Brian yelled.
“Huh? What?!” I snapped back to reality.
“Man, what’s on your mind?” AJ asked me.
“Oh, nothing just that girl, I think her name was Danica.”
“Ooh! Nicky has a little crush, common Brian let’s go over there and tell her.” AJ teased.
“Hey man, don’t call me Nicky, or I’ll beat your ass!” I snapped back.
“Yeah, yeah whatever.” He replied.
“Hey, look there they are.’ Brian pointed out. They were walking towards our table, laughing at something.
“That’s my chance. I’m gonna talk to them.” I said.
“Nick man, you can’t. What if they’re fans, which is pretty obvious they are, they’ll start screaming and attracting attention.” AJ said, which was odd for him.
“AJ chill, we’re in disguise, besides I’m just gonna ask them one question.”
“Fine, but if they start, it’s your fault.”
“Yes, mister strict!”
They walked passed us, but I ran after them.
“Hey, girls, can I ask you a question?” I asked, trying hard not to break my disguise as a tourist.
“Sure, what is it?” Claire asked, I think that’s her name anyway.
“Um, where’d you learn to sing like that?”
“Just learned I guess, didn’t really have voice lessons.” Danica answered.
“Oh, cool. Well you were pretty good. You should try out for a record company or something.”
“Yeah, well maybe. See, Claire and I don’t really sing, but Billie, Ali, and Danica are in a group called Club 3.” Faye said.
“Really? That’s cool. How long have you been together?” Brian got into the conversation.
“Um, about 9 years, well I’ve known Billie, and Faye for 9 years, Claire for 6, and Danica for 2 years.” Ali said.
“Wow, that’s a long time.” AJ replied, getting into it also.
“Um, I thought you were going to ask us one question, not a hundred.” Billie laughed.
“Oh, sorry got carried away.” I apologized.
“It’s ok, we like getting asked questions, coz we don’t very often. Thanks.” Danica replied, she was pretty nice.
“Well, we’ll let you girls go. Nice meeting you all, and you have great voices also. You pulled that Backstreet Boys song off very well. Good Luck with everything.” Brian encouraged.
“Thank you, uh..?” Ali asked.
“Oh, our names, I’m Darren.” I lied.
“Mine is Dexter.” AJ said.
“And I’m Rob.” Brian covered.
“Ok, thank you Darren, Dexter, and Rob. Pleasure meeting you.” Ali said.
“Pleasure was ours!” AJ responded.
They shook out hands and walked off in the other direction.
“Wow, they’re something else!” I said, dreamily.
“Yep, they are.” Brain replied.
“So, who’s your favorite AJ?” I asked him.
“That Ali, she’s beautiful.” AJ yelled.
“Ssh! AJ don’t let everyone know.” Brian scolded.
“Sorry, couldn’t help myself.”
“We gotta get back to Epcot for the little show later.” I told them.
We were putting on a small 5 song free show tonight. I wonder if Ali, Danica, Faye, Claire, and Billie are going to be there. We walked over to Epcot, and to the stage area. We saw Howie and Kevin working on some songs.
“Hey, guys!” AJ screamed.
“Hi AJ. Have fun in your 30 minutes break?” Kevin asked.
“Yep, and Nick here has a little crush.”
“Oh, really? Who is she?” Howie asked, interested in who I liked.
“This girl named Danica, we went to that karaoke café, she and her friends sang there, and they’re pretty good.” Brian told them.
“That’s cool. What song did they sing?” Kevin said.
“As long as you love me.” I replied.
“One of out songs, cool. Were they any good?”
“Yeah, very good. That Ali has a great voice.” AJ responded, smiling.
“Well, it looks like you have a crush too, AJ.” Kevin teased.
“You would too if you saw them.” I added.
“Yeah, well they want us to rehearse more.” Howie told us.
Ok, let’s start with ‘The One’.” I offered. The band started the opening cords for the one, and AJ began then Brian did his part. Then I did my part, we did ok. We finished the song and then started ‘As long’. When we did that I couldn’t help but think of Danica. Man, I gotta forget about her, coz I’m sure that I won’t see her again, well maybe anyway.
“That was good guys. You seem all set for the show tonight.” Donna, our manager, said to us.
“Thanx Donna. We’re all set.” Kevin replied.
“That’s good. Oh, by the way, Jive you know is doing that new group search thing for your opening act, and want you to go by the Raddison Thursday and Friday to help pick who you want. They did tell me about a group of girls that really do have talent, that might interest you”
“Really, well tell them we’ll be there on Thursday and Friday to see who they have for us. How many people signed up?” Brian asked.
“About 30 groups, I think 100 people in total though.”
“That’s not that bad.” AJ said.
“Nope, I thought there’d be more, but since they don’t know that one of them will be touring with you that not many people showed. Oh well.”
“Yep, we have about 2 hrs ‘til the show. What do we do now?” Howie asked.
“You can have some fun, but try not to blow your cover.”
“Yes ma’am, don’t worry we won’t.” AJ laughed, saluting her.
“Don’t start with me Alexander! I mean it.”
“OK, sorry.”
Donna walked away and the five of us were trying to think of something to do the next 2 hrs.
“Hey, I got it! Let’s go see if we can find Ali, Danica, Billie, Faye, and Claire!” AJ exclaimed.
“Yo man, do you know how big Disney is? They could be any where or left already.” Kevin said.
“Oh Kev, you’re no fun! Common please!” I begged.
“I have no idea. Let’s go around the park, go on rides and stuff, but still be looking out for them?” Brian tried.
“That’s good. Let’s do it.” Howie smiled.
“Guys, I just have a question. Wouldn’t they wonder why we’re following them? I mean we already talked to them.” AJ told us.
“What?! You talked to them?!” Kevin screamed, almost exploding.
“Yeah, only a few questions, but don’t worry we didn’t blow our cover.” I replied.
“Are we going or not?” Brian asked.
“Yeah, let’s go. Common.” Kevin responded.
We put out nasty tourist clothes on and walked out of the area towards the park. We went on Splash Mountain, then went to Animal Kingdom, then back to Splash Mountain. We walked around a while, but didn’t see the girls any. The two hours passed, and we had to go get ready for the show. We walked back to Epcot and to the stage area, got changed into our stage clothes.
I finished getting ready and looked out into the crowd. Damn, there were a lot of people already, but the show did start in less than 10 minutes. They were screaming ‘BACKSTREET BOYS” as our fans normally do. I looked around the crowd, but didn’t see the girls anywhere. I wonder if they knew that we’re here. Maybe they are here and I just don’t see them. Oh well, I gotta keep my mind on the show and fans. That’s what important.
“Nick man, you ready?” Brian asked me.
“Huh, yep ready as I’ll ever be.” I responded.
“You gotta get your mind off her. Common let’s go.” Kevin said.
“Yeah, I know and I will. Let’s get this party started!” I exclaimed.
“That’s our Nick.” AJ laughed.
Brian first got on stage, and I followed, Howie followed after me, then AJ, then Kevin.
