Chapter 7 - Princess

After being thrown out of Pizza Hut because it was closing, everyone piled back into Brian's Expedition.Brooke got into the back again, letting Nick be happy sitting up front. She didn't mind. She was tired anyway.

The other guys wanted to go home and sleep,so Brian dropped them off. When he dropped Nick off,he got out.Brooke stayed in.Brian and Nick stood by Nick's door for a couple of minutes, talking.Brooke couldn't hear them because her window was up.

Brian came back to the truck as Brooke was climbing into the front seat. They drove away.

When they got to Brian's house, they got out and went inside.

Brian turned on the tv and surfed the channels.

He sighed as he turned the tv off. "Nothing's on," he said as he layed the remote on the table by the couch.

He looked over at Brooke. She was still staring at the blank tv screen.

"Ok now.Tell me.What's wrong?" he asked, scooting over closer to her.

No way was she about to tell Brian that his friends made her feel weird,so she just shrugged and said "Nothing".

Brian just let that slide.

"Hey,do you want to go outside? We can sit on the beach or something." Brian asked.

"Sure",Brooke said,standing up.

They went outside and walked over to the beach. The sun was just setting and the ocean was crashing against the rocks. It was so beautiful.

They sat down in the sand and just watched the crashing water.

"You sure you don't want to tell me what's wrong?",Brian asked Brooke.

She looked over at him and smiled. She decided to forget about the other guys and have fun with Brian for awhile.

"Nothing is wrong, honestly. So,what do you want to do?" she said.

He went down by the water's front. He waved her over. She went over by him.

"Let's build a sand castle,"he whispered excitedly, like a little boy on Christmas morning.Brooke laughed.

But she decided to be a little girl again,so she bent down and started scooping, soon to make the biggest, best sand castle ever, complete with a drawbridge and water and everything.

As they were adding the finishing touches,Brian looked over at the ocean.

"Uh oh," he said.

"What?",Brooke asked.

Brian pointed to the waving waters. "The tide is coming in",he said,"Our castle will be ruined."

They watched as the water melted their beautiful castle. Then the water got closer and closer. They backed up,but it didn't work. The water was going to get them!

Brian picked Brooke up by her waist and she screamed as the water came up.

By the time it went back down,Brian and Brooke were both laughing hysterically.

Brian let Brooke down and they sat in the sand.

"You know,I hope the princess wasn't in that castle",Brooke said,"She would be dead right now."

"Nah,she wasn't in it,"Brian replied,playing with a pile of sand.

Brooke lifted up one of her brows."How do you know?" she asked.

He looked at her and smiled."Because she's right here with me" he said,as he put his arm around her.

Brooke blushed and smiled."Well,I guess that makes you a frog then," she said.

Brian grinned."Then you know what that means?"

Even though Brooke knew what it meant, she decided to humor him,so she said,"What?"

Brian blushed terribly as he played with a fuzz ball on Brooke's shorts.

"It means...you have to kiss me," he said, making sound more like a question, not sure if Brooke wanted to kiss him.

"Oh does it really?Well, what if I don't want a prince?I think I like you being a frog." she teased.

"Aw,come on now honey," Brian said, laughing. "I don't want to be a frog.I'll give you warts!"

Brooke stood up. "Yea,but you have to catch me first!" she said,as she took off running down the beach.

Brian threw the fuzz ball over his shoulder and ran after her.

Soon,Brooke's legs started to feel like jello,so she just let her self fall.Brian came down right on top of her.

He looked into her eyes and without saying a word,he brought his lips to hers and kissed her softly.
