2gether, MTV's parody "boy band," now has a sophomore CD and a TV series sequel to its made-for-TV movie. Just like before, the group's got the style down pat musically, but its lyrics will have listeners asking, "Did they really say that?"

The album's first single and definitely the catchiest cut, "The Hardest Thing About Breaking Up (Is Getting Your Stuff Back)," includes the classic lines "I really miss feeling your kiss / but can I have back my things before I get really pissed" and "You got my sweaters, my hat / I can't find my cat" (complete with plaintive meow).

Doug Linus, the 35-year-old chubby and balding member, is in the spotlight on "Awesum Luvr," detailing how he's not like other singers (that's for sure) and extolling to the ladies the benefits of having an older, more experienced boyfriend.

"Right Where It Counts," a takeoff on the first-make-out song tradition, is about getting kicked in the crotch, literally, while "Sister" is a tender ballad about leaving one's girlfriend for her

It's not so much that the songs are funny by themselves as that their conflict with the usual boy-band expectations draws laughs. Similarly, the characters of the five singers amusingly send up what listeners suspect real boy bands are like when no one is around. Even without the visuals of their TV appearances, 2gether can crack you up.
