subject: my very merry valentine's day
I know it's a little bit late writing about my Valentine's Day now, but I just gotta write it down because this year's Valentine's Day is definitely very special for me.
Seeing all the Highlights' girls dressed in pink and red the first thing in the morning was the best way to start my day. I really like those girls and I am SO glad I have Highlights for my first period. You know what's very cute, a junior named Evan (how coincidental!), who walks pass our class everyday and to whom all the Highlights girls say hi every morning, brought us Valentine cookies! Isn't that sweet?! But that's not the best part...Rachel and Clayton bought the entire class carnations! It's amazing how a single carnation can brighten up one's day! At that moment, I felt very blessed to be surrounded by such a group of wonderful people! Later that period, we went around the school and sang Love-A-Gram to different teachers. Mr. Felt, my European History teacher, was the funniest one to sing for. We did "Johnny Angel," except we changed it to "Jimmy Angel." He was blushing so hard!
Well, that's not it! Abby, one of my closest friends, sent a carnation to my Calculus class (how appropriate) under Evan F.'s name! Isn't she cute?! She wrote "I know my calculus! It says: Joanna plus Evan equals 4Evah! Love, Evan" I thought that was very sweet of her for doing that. Though it's not really from Evan, but who cares, I'm satisfied! :)
But the HIGHLIGHT (no pun intended) of my Valentine's Day was definitely when a group of us drove to the State Capital to visit our English teacher, Mrs. Spackman-Moss. She's been elected as a state Representative, so she'll been working at the Capital until early March. And since my music teacher Ms. Belnap is a close friend of Spack, she sent us to sing her a love-a-gram! I was more than glad to do this, not only because Spack has to be one of my favorite teachers, and that I really did miss her! After arriving at the Capital, the hard part was to find her in the huge crowd...and we did! I cannot even begin to describe how glad I was to see her after such a long time! We sang "Lean On Me" for her and seeing her with teary eyes, I myself got very emotional as well. At that moment, I realized why this Valentine's Day means so much to me: I had the opportunity to make people happy! Not even a million dozens of flowers or chocolates can bring me as much joy as seeing the smiles on people's faces, esp. those I care. It's incredible what music can do! "When words fail, music speaks!" How true is that! I know I will forever remember that day, and I no longer look at Valentine's Day the same.
