Note to Evan: This wonderful story is written by visitor Lori DePace, who spent a great deal of time writing this especially for you. See, this is how devoted your fans are...and you totally deserve every bit of it.
Part I
Five young men walked down the hallway of MTV studios.
"Right this way, fellas," the young secretary said. She led the men into an office around the corner.
"Boys, sit, please," Laurie Robinson, President of MTV, smiled. Welcome to the wonderful world of Music Television. Oh Lord, I'm bad with names," she started, looking to her secretary for help.
"Michael
Cuccione, Alex Solowitz, Kevin Farley, Noah Bastian, and Evan Farmer, Ms. Robinson," her secretary offered.
"Thank you Marie," Laurie said, looking rather
relieved. Marie smiled at the boys, and quickly left the room.
"Ok guys, down to business. 2Ge+her is premiering in a month, and we need to start promotion for it. We need to schedule an appearance on Total Request
when we
premiere the Calculus video, we need to shoot interview and promotional
pictures, etc.¦" Laurie rambled on.
The boys listening intently,
with
the exception of Evan. He looked as though he was listening to the
woman,
but he was only looking at her. His mind was filled of thoughts of
Alexia.
'Four years of my life I spent with her. Four of the best years of my
life.
And she goes and breaks up with me for no apparent reason,' he thought
to
himself.
Noah nudged Evan's arm. "Yo, Evan, buddy," he whispered,
pulling
Evan from his trance. "Dude, are you ok?" he asked.
"Yeah, yeah I'm
fine,"
Evan answered, sitting up in his chair.
Noah stared at his friend for a
moment. "You're thinking about her again, aren't you," he asked.
"No, no,
no I'm not," Evan answered quickly.
"Yes, you are! Ev, buddy, get
over her. You really need a night out," Noah said. He thought about his own
comment
for a moment, and then directed his attention to the MTV President.
"Miss
Robinson, what you said before about paid for luxuries, can we get them
now?"
he asked.
The woman was taken back. "Of course, I suppose."
"Well,
do you
think you could get Evan and myself tickets to a play for tonight?"
Evan
looked up at his friend with confusion. How was going to a play with
his
friend going to help him get over Alexia?
"Why sure, Mr. Bastian.
I'll have
them delivered to your hotel room later on tonight. As for the rest of
you,
that's it for today. I hope you all enjoy your stay here in New York,"
Laurie smiled.
The five men smiled politely at her and left her
office.
Once in the hallway, Alex turned to the other guys and said, "Me and
Michael
are gonna head down to the Virgin Megastore, check ya'll later." He
and
Michael walked down one hallway.
"Yeah, I'm gonna head out too. I
wanna
stop by the NBC studios, visit some people at Saturday Night Live.
Have fun
at whatever play you guys see!" Kevin smiled, and then left.
Evan and
Noah
made their way down the hallways that would lead them to the exit.
"Why in
the hell would going to a Broadway play help me get over Lexi?" Evan
asked
his friend.
"Hey, you know from experience, you can meet some pretty
interesting people at a play!" Noah joked.
Part II
Laurie pulled through for Noah and Evan that night with two front
row
tickets to see Jekyll and Hyde and two backstage passes for after the
show.
Neither guy had seen this play, so they were both looking forward to
it, but
Noah slightly more than Evan was.
The two sat in their seats,
patiently
waiting for the play to start. It did within minutes, and Noah was
entranced
by the whole story. Evan dazed in and out, for his mind kept going to
thoughts of Alexia. That is, until about and hour into the play. Dr.
Jekyll's friends had brought him to the Red Rat, a local strip club.
The
performer that night was 'Lucy Harris'. She came from backstage in a
leotard, a long jacket, a cane and a top hat. "Good and evil, and
their
merits, men have all viewed through history as well they should."
The
moment a sound came out of her throat, Evan snapped back to reality.
He
watched the girl dance across the stage, her curly brown hair swaying
against
her back. She was absolutely gorgeous. She had a presence like no one
Evan
had ever seen. And her voice, her voice was like magic. He was
totally in
awe of her. During the second verse of the song, the performer leaned
out
into the audience, seductively, and grazed her cane against Evan's
cheek.
Was she flirting with him? Or was this part of the show? He couldn't
tell.
The song quickly ended, and Evan became quite sad. She was so
beautiful, he
needed to see her again. Thankfully, she was in many more scenes
before the
intermission. Once the intermission started, he grabbed his playbill
and
looked up the actress.
"So, what do you think of the play so far?"
Noah
asked his friend.
"Jessica Connor, age nineteen," Evan murmured.
"What did
you say?" Noah asked, looking strangely at his friend.
"The girl who
plays
Lucy, that's her name."
"Oh, that's, err, nice."
"Laurie gave us
passes
backstage, right?" Evan asked.
"Yep, that she did."
"Good," Evan
smiled.
"Good."
After the show, the two guys exited the theatre and made their way
to the
doors leading backstage. After showing the guard their passes, they
entered
the dressing area of the theater. Evan quickly began looking for
Jessica,
but she was no where to be found.
"Man, why are you so content on
finding
this girl?" Noah asked after a solid 20 minutes of looking for her.
"Noah,
did you even look at her? She was beautiful, breathtaking, gorgeous.
I want
to meet her," Evan replied.
"Looking for Jessie?" a voice said.
The
two
turned around quickly to find themselves face to face with 'Dr. Jekyll'
himself.
"Actually, yes we are," Evan told the man.
"Ahh she left
right
after the curtain call. But if you're really content on meeting her,"
he
started.
"Yes?" Evan asked quickly.
"Well, she doesn't like me
telling
people about it, but every Saturday night she sings with an all girl
group.
They're called "Fate's Destiny," and they play at the Cobra Club, down on
43rd
street."
Evan smiled at the man, realizing that this night was Friday.
"Well I need to get going, good luck in meeting Jessie," the actor
commented,
leaving the two alone.
"Hey Noah," Evan said.
"What?" Noah was almost
afraid to ask.
"In the mood to go clubbin' at the Cobra Club tomorrow
night?"
Part III
Somehow Evan managed to coerce his friends into coming with him
that next
night. It was about seven o'clock when the five reached the Cobra
Club.
As
they reached the bouncer, Michael whispered to Evan, "Are you sure I'm
allowed in here?"
"Yeah Mike, it's like open house night or
something," Evan
answered him.
The bouncer smiled at the guys as they walked into the
crowded
club. It was a rather nice club, considering some of the ones that
they had
seen. They quickly found a table, quite close to the stage. Within
moments,
the house lights went down and a heavy R&B beat blasted through the
speakers.
Lights flooded the stage, and four women appeared. They went into a
rendition of Destiny's Child's 'Say My Name'.
Evan leaned over to his
friends and whispered, "She's the one singing lead."
His attention was
quickly drawn back to the performance onstage. She was very energetic,
gliding across the stage. One thing Evan noticed, though, was how she
didn't
really interact with the other three girls. In fact, she rarely made
eye
contact with any of them.
'That's odd,' he thought to himself. But he
quickly drew his attention to the performance. The three song set
ended ever
so quickly, and the four girls walked offstage.
"You're right Evan,
she was
really awesome," Michael said.
"Yeah man, kick ass voice," Alex added.
"She
brought down the house kid. Why don't you go talk to her?" Kevin
asked,
pointing towards the bar.
Jessica and her group mates had emerged from
backstage. Jessica left the other three and found a spot at the bar.
The
three others walked to a table full of guys.
"Go!" Kevin pushed.
Evan
slowly made his way over to the bar, and took a seat next to her.
"Can
I get
ya somethin'?" the bartender asked him.
"Uh, a Zima please."
The
bartender
smiled and walked away. A few minutes passed before Evan got the nerve
to
talk to Jessica.
"Umm, you were amazing up there tonight," he said.
Jessica
looked up at him and asked, "Were you talking to me?"
"Yeah, you were
wonderful up there."
Jessica blushed slightly. "Thank you," she
murmured.
A few moments passed.
"My name's Evan, Evan Farmer," he said,
extending his
hand towards her.
She looked at it for a moment, and shook his hand.
"Jessica Connor, nice to meet you," she said quietly.
"I saw you a few
days
ago in Jekyll and Hyde. How'd you get a starring role at such a young
age?"
he asked her.
"The casting director was at my senior play and saw me
there,"
she responded.
"Wow, that's great. You're really lucky to have had
that
happened."
"JESSICA! We're leaving, NOW!" one of her group mates
screamed
across the club.
"Uhh, uhh, I need to go now. It was nice meeting you
Evan," she told him, quickly catching up to the group.
Evan stared
after her
as she left. She was even more beautiful in person than she was on
stage.
Her eyes were full of mystery and excitement, yet she was so quiet and
shy.
Evan made a pledge to himself at that moment. He would get into
Jessica
Connor's life and become close to her. He had to.
