EPISODE 8 - DAD

Summary: Jerry suspects the worst when his father, Ted, whom he hasn't seen in four years, visits. His suspicions seem to come true when Ted files a lawsuit claiming Jerry stole a song from him. Also, QT learns what it means to be a parent when he cares for a fish.

Cast: Noah Bastian, Michael Cuccione, Kevin Farley, Evan Farmer, Alex Solowitz

My Review: This has to be the SWEETEST and CUTEST episode yet! Let's see: no profanity or violence; only PG-rated sexual reference; a touching story line focused on Evan; and of course, the introduction of "you're the only one that's real," which happens to be one of my favorite songs.

Don't know why, Evan seems skinnier in this episode (hopefully it's not resulted from working too hard) or it could be my eye problem. Mmm....you know what really puzzles me? how come I don't see any resemblance between Evan and his "dad" except they are both "ladies men?" And the name "Theodore O'Keefe?" He and Theodore Roosevelt are like the only "Theodores" I know. But ironically, "Jerry" and "Theodore" are somehow right for each other. You know what I mean? (Wait a minute, what am I doing? I'm going no where)

Besides the excellent acting from "the man" himself, this episode is filled with funny moments. "Blue, light blue, royal blue, robin's egg blue, velvet," maybe I should change that just a LITTLE into "Evan, beautiful Evan, gorgoues Evan, one-of-a-kind Evan, perfection!" Oh, when Evan makes the comment about his dad being "fat and bald," the reaction from Kevin is SO darn funny! And that hysterical laugh of Noah's whenever "Spleen" is mentioned, that simply kills me. Don't you think it's weird that when someone starts laughing (even for no reason), you youself start laughing as well? However, I don't recommand you tasting fish food even if you are extremely bored.

Something I dislike, Mmmm...a hairy, bald, naked "old man" (how pleasant!) who is supposedly responsible for creating the gorgeous Evan? I think something is wrong with that picture. I really hope Evan remembered to wash his bedsheet and blanket THOROUGHLY before going back to his bed. And that "oh my God" phrase from him after discovering his dad in bed with another woman is SO CLASSIC!

Okay, so saving the best for last, let's talk about the performance scene - definitely the highlight of the show. I cannot even tell you how much I LOVE that scene. (And this time, I did rewind the tape for probably a trillion times! Hopefully I didn't "kill" my VCR) Guys, isn't that the SWEETEST thing ever? With the boys in tuxedos? That totally puts me into a Valentine's Day mood. The choreography is the best yet (with no ab crunches), just something simple but comes from the heart. Oh, I am SO GLAD they didn't skip Evan's solo this time. When he sings "when you call me, are you smiling," that totally puts me into heaven. I LOVE his smile, I just LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! No one can smile like him that's for sure. If I could only dance with him even for a minute, I would be the happiest girl in the whole world! The lullaby scene, I am not going to lie, my eyes were getting all teary. (so, I have a soft heart and really do become a "part" of the show)

Nonetheless, this episode not only demonstrates Evan's acting skill and that he is more than a boyband "heartthrob," it illustrates how you can balance out humor with a rather serious plot. If you know me well enough, you know I will give it an A! See, you don't need sex to make a good show. :) (As for next week's whole orgasm/condoms scenes, could someone just punch the writer of that episode?)
