EPISODE 19 - FAT
Summary: Mickey's reluctant to return to his high school to take part in an MTV-arranged concert because he used to be overweight. Mickey: Alex Solowitz. Jerry: Evan Farmer. Q.T.: Michael Cuccione. Doug: Kevin Farley.
my review: The last 2Gether episode...you know that is inevitable. Personally, I don't understand why MTV made this huge fuss about not airing it. Being both a 2Gether fan and Michael Cuccione fan, I don't find it offensive knowing the element of humour is the core of the show. Besides, Q.T. getting a liver transplant isn't even the focus of this episode. Rather, FAT deals with how Alex overcomes his horrible High School memories, stepping onto that very ground again, and Evan, acting like a player, tries to find a way to date his ex-girlfriend's sister - Roxy. It is unfair to have a tiny part of the show affects the big picture.
From Kevin's sarcasm to Evan's "self-absorbed," cocky attitude, this episode consists of some of the funniest quotes. "I love my high school. They motivate me to become a middle aged loser," says Kevin sarcastically. I wonder if Alex's video footage on the show is actually his? If so, wow, that's very brave of him!
My favorite part of the show, however, is the whole deal with Evan and those two sisters. "I need more time on my work and...on Jerry," Evan explains as he breaks up with Roxy's sister. "You two are obviously in love with each other." Don't you think it's very funny that whenever a "hottie" comes out from the pool, they always shot that in slow motion, from bottom to top? Seeing Evan dropping his jaw to the floor after "checking out" Roxy is pure classic! I think Roxy is pretty..but not Evan's type. (I know, you must be thinking, "who are you to say who is and isn't Evan's type?") "If you only see her! I HAVE to go out with her." It's great that Evan is taking another challenge, playing a "typical guy," a player in this episode. I don't think I have ever seen Evan's character being so absorbed to physical looks before...he was always deeper than that. And NEVER, I mean NEVER EVER, have thought that Evan would do something like dating his ex-girlfriend's sister and believe it's alright as long as the girlfriend initiated the break-up. That is just not consistent with his characters. And check this out, "It's an indoor pool, I don't think we need sun block," says Roxy as she gives Evan this weird look. Oh..Evan is just acting very funny in this episode.
Though as funny as it is, I think it is also a little bit gross when Kevin and Alex eat like pigs on their bed and have food all over their bodies. (And Kevin actually moans! Didn't know eating can give you so much pleasure!) "I am weak! GONE BAD!" screams Kevin.
Lastly, there's the shower scene...yep, Evan, Kevin, Noah and Alex taking showers 2Gether! What the...too bad Kevin blocks THE view (if you know what I'm talking about.) As the song "sisters" comes on, it just makes me appreciate the song even more! That song has a VERY good melody! It's up there with "24/7." This episode could have gotten an A if that was really Michael in it. Still, a well-deserved A-.
