EPISODE 10 - DEAD
Summary: A rumor of Chad's death causes a spike in CD sales, leading the record company to urge his “death” last a little while longer. After he sneaks out to meet his girlfriend, it's up to his pals to convince him he's not better off dead.
Cast: Noah Bastian, Michael Cuccione, Kevin Farley, Evan Farmer, Alex Solowitz
My Review: Evan's first line from this episode has to be the most disappointing yet; it's so NOT "jerry!" Perhaps the writer should stay more consistent next time. Let's talk about fashion for a moment. Evan probably has the best style of them all. Alex - too ghetto & gangster-like; Noah - too American; Michael - too casual; and Kevin - he has more important things to worry about than fashion! I personally find it very stylish and attractive when guys tuck their shirts in. (No, that's NOT dorky!) This gives a classy look that makes the person more refreshing. After all, you can't do wrong with black and blue - simple but perfect! (hey, that's the new BSB album title! Make sure to go get it on Nov. 21!!)
The whole dream girl thing, that's way sweet! This is not foolish; everyone has a vision of someone who is perfect in every way...do I even need to tell you who my dream boy (man) is?? LOL In the end, it's the inner beauty that counts. The rumor theme in this episode is a great touch, since the media should definitely be more careful before publishing something that could turn a person's life upside-down. Canards have to be one of the worst by-products from the entertainment industry. And wow, those moaning fans CAN sing! I cannot believe how good they sound - perfect pitch! Did MTV hire a choir for that scene?
For Noah fans, I bet the best part is those childhood photos and home videos of "the shy one." That's a very nice and effective approach to introduce the actor. I hope to see Evan's baby pics soon. I bet he was born to be Prince Charming! Did you realize Michael barely talks in this episode? He has like 4 lines and that is it! However, those four lines undoubtedly created some of the funniest moments in Dead.
Speaking of funny moments, I find the line "unfortunately, Chad was taken away from us before the world had a chance to forget him" very hilarious. Guess that's just my weird sense of humor. And the whole heart attack thing with Noah's grandma, where do people come up with stuffs like that? Oh, the performance, that's SO awesome! I love the Spanish insertion of the song (you can get the copy with the Spanish version from Target). Evan es muy guapo y caliente! (so much for my crappy español!)
The motif by itself, of this episode, deserves an A-. "I love you more when you were dead." Behind the humor, this implies that people tend to be neglectful and inappreciative until something is gone forever. Your family is indeed your "real collage" and what makes you complete. I sincerely believe parents are the ONLY people on earth, not even your spouse or BEST friends, that can give you unconditional love. NEVER speak ill to you parents, please!! Nothing could have offended me more than people who take everything for granted. So learn to treasure what you have now and live your life to its fullest! :)
