Backstreet Boy, Howie Dorough, has paid a low-key visit to a hospital to help cheer up a six-year-old leukaemia patient who is a big fan of the group.

Howie decided to make the surprise visit to see Jonatan Fonseca in the Florida hospital, Orlando, yesterday after his own mum heard that Jonatan recently underwent a bone marrow transplant with his identical brother David as donor.

When Howie's mum told her famous son Jonatan's story and how he idolised the group, the pop star, taking a break at home from recording the new BSB album, immediately cancelled all prior commitments and paid the boy a visit. Howie also spent time chatting with nurses and doctors looking after Jonatan.

Elba Fonseca, Jonatan's mother, said Howie told her son he was lucky to have a brother as good as David. She added, 'Jonatan's so happy. This is the best gift God has ever given me - Jonatan's recuperation.'

Jonatan is due to return home today, Saturday, and will spend the next few months recuperating.
