Kris snapped on her vest. This was
the day she had been waiting for
for a while - the day she would
finally become a Pokémon trainer.
" Come on, Kris. We have to
hurry. Today is the last day to
become a
trainer this season."
Kris sighed. Bill never got any
news out here on the cost. The only
reason he knew today was the last day
was because of the call he had recieved
from
Professor Spruce. It had been two
years since she had left home to help
Bill with this
experiment. It had meant starting her
journey late, but she didn't mind. There
were
close ties between Bill and her
family.
" Kris, I have something for
you. Can you stop in my office before
you
head to town?"
" Sure, Bill."
As Bill continued down the hall,
Kris picked up her backpack and
made sure things were still in order.
Things had to be perfect - it was a
special day.
She slung her backpack on her back and
began to walk down the hallway. Passing
the lab,
she stopped and peered back into it.
The experiment was over - it had been
interesting;
the new sensations, feelings. Even if
she was the 'guinea pig', she felt she
had gotten more
out of it than Bill himself. After
all, not many people get the chance to
turn into a - " Kris!
There are not too many hours in a day,
you know." Kris sighed again. Bill
never really had
much patience. " Coming,"
she replied. She continued down the hall
and turned into the last
room. Bill looked up at her from his
paperwork.
" Sit down, Kris."
Kris sat. This was unusual, even
for Bill. What was he up to?
" I want to thank you for
helping me with the experiment. I
don't think I
could have done it without you."
" It was nothing, Bill. I
-"
" But it was something. I
also need to apologize. Because of
me, you
are two years late in recieving your
trainer qualifications."
This was strange as well. Sure,
Bill was a really nice guy, but he
knew
Kris had wanted to help in this
experiment more than anything. She
couldn't explain it,
something had just drawn her to it.
" Bill, you know I don't care
-"
" I know, I know. Still, it's
because of that that I want to give
you this."
He pulled out a pokéball. "
Here, Kris."
"Bill -," she states
with hesitation.
" Take it, Kris." He
tosses her the ball. "Take care
of it and protect it.
Don't release it until you are
outside, okay?"
"Alright."
"Now you'd better get going.
You still need to sign up with the
league."
Kris nodded. "Thanks,
Bill." She stood and walked out
the door.
"Goodbye,"she hollered back.
"I'll stop in on my way back
through."
Now it was Bill's turn to sigh.
I never should have gotten her
involved, he thought.
