Nero clung to Draco as he held his breath out of fear. Laura had opposed Ace's plan but, Ace was the leader so she held onto Draco. Ace laughed as Draco landed as softly as he could onto the train. Holding firmly to the car’s edge. Folding his wings Draco made a wind break for his friends.
The humans mostly spent the trip sleeping, Draco didn't dare sleep. If he was caught in the grip of one his dreams he could lose his hold on the car sending everyone hurling from the train. He spent the time watching the others huddled under his wingspan.
What would his mother be like? Draco kept thinking about it. Another memory floated to him. An orange eye watching intently at him. A loving eye that moved away as her snout came into view. A tongue bathed him.
Draco woke, he was jolted at first. He realized he was day dreaming, before slipping anymore he tightened his grip on the train. Ace woke he glanced at his friends with worry. Ace was looking oddly at him.
"Watch what you're doing Draco." Ace threw his jacket over Laura.
Draco lifted his head out of the protection of his wings. The cool air whipping into his face woke him. He was amazed at the landscape as they flew past. Everything was there a second and the next a new scene played before him. He rested his head on his wing butts.
The sun sank as the moon rose. It was silver and hung high over the world this night. His attention was broken by a roar. Draco saw charizards flying freely in the night. He could smell scents from vileplume.
"Ace we‘re getting close!" Draco tucked his head under his wings.
"How close?" Ace muttered with a hint of a yawn.
"An hour or two away." Draco smiled.
"Everyone wake up. We have to grab hold of Draco." Ace shook them.
With his companions clasped to him Draco lifted his wings. Taking to the winds invigorated Draco. His snout told him of the thousands of creatures living about Gloomleaf.
Swinging around a farm Draco found it held a familiar scent. It reminded him of Nero's smell. Taking in another whiff Draco knew the people below in the farm house were descendants of Nero.
Flying on he caught another familiar bloodline. Draco was following a scent that was similar to himself.
Chad felt the darkness creep upon him. His eyes flew open. He trembled knowing another memory was birthing. He tried to evade it but, the dark cloud loomed nearer. He took flight, water slicing off his body as he slammed into the roof of the cavern. If he could break through the damn earth maybe he could flee Oroko's hell, this was the Cave of Ice and Darkness. The blackness engulfed him before he could make another tackle.
A voice. A young voice screaming for help. Chad woke to find humans in his lair. He roared as one reached for his son. Chad bared his mighty fangs.
"You dare touch him and I'll gut you!" He puffed smoke from his nostrils.
The man leapt upon his son and used the crystals in his hands. Chad was blinded by the light. He flailed backward. He heard Chivonne giving chase to the humans left behind. She slapped them to the ground, he cried out as he released Friana. His daughter scrambled behind him for protection. Chad let out more unearthly howls as he and Chivonne gathered their other children behind them.
He turned around once the humans fled. There stood his eldest child Friana, the charmeleon hen held his leg tightly. Flare made barking threats at the fleeing offenders. The little charmeleon drake even spat a few embers at them. He found Jade and Little Blaze in Chivonne’s arms, the manders cried as they clung to her. He felt relieved but, he scanned about. Where was his youngest? He called out yet the charmander did not answer. Chivonne wept as she checked every crevice in the cave, each time they beckoned for him the hatchling did not answer.
"Look what we've done to your boy fire drake!" Chad opened his sight to the horror of the thief's collection of charmander skin items.
"This one is him!" The thief laughed as he showed off the jacket.
Water? Chad lifted his head above the surface. The dark cloud passed. That nightmare followed him for three thousand years. It began after his final son was kidnapped.
"Damn you Oroko! Why do you show me these things!" Chad gasped for air.
The massive Blastiose appeared within the cavern. The black rings about it’s eyes parted and the golden irises revealed. The enormous turtle faced Chad, it stared at him with weary eyes. At last the creature spoke.
"These are ghosts of your own making fire lizard! I do not show you them! They haunt you because you allow them to!" Oroko vanished below the waves as he ended his statement.
Chad flew once more, trying to break the cavern roof open. His fire sprang from his mouth. When he tired he found himself floating in the ocean below. He looked up in time to see another dark cloud descending upon him.
"So we made it to Taupe Town. What now?" Draco yawned as he sat on a large stone.
"We can't do much until daylight. We'll camp here." Ace unfurled his pack.
"Well! Well! Weeeeell! I smell does!" Cynder launched from his ball.
"Cynder!" Ace growled. "Get back!"
Again the pokéball refused to work. Now Ace had two loose pokémon. Grunting he tried every trick to get the ball to work yet no luck. Ace gave up after an hour. The typhlosion grinned as he ran into the forest.
Draco groaned, there wasn't a stream or pond in sight. He would be forced to skip his morning bath. Ace was watching him when he returned from his flight. Draco had already noticed the odd way Ace acted around him. Draco dropped it, he simply made himself comfortable on the rock slab and slept. The dreams of his father were gone.
His mind reached about. He needed something to keep himself from slipping away into boredom. Loki searched the minds about him. He found Draco’s. His powers stole into the dragon’s mind. Loki was stunned as he awaited release from his prison. There was something.....familiar about the dragon’s mind. Something deep within it held that spark of utter rage that Loki knew. That deep rage that could be let loose as rampages.
Awaiting his release the demon pondered upon Draco’s mind, upon the young char’s soul. There was something they shared, the great lust for revenge yet Draco was in control of this rage unlike Loki who lashed out without being provoked. Loki wondered over this and wanted to know why they both had this rage inside and why it was so similar. Most of all Loki wanted to know how this young drake was in control of it.
