Over roasted seafood Ace again tried to convince the other two to stay in Emerald, Johto or any where else but, following him. He supposed he could take his leave of them early one morning in Johto leaving them behind.
Cynder complained about the chewiness of squid. Pichu was having fun snapping the tentacles like rubberbands.
"Fun food! Fun food!" She sang and flicked Cynder's ear with the dead arm.
Roaring the typhlosion gave chase to the impish rodent. He thundered up the beach right behind Pichu. He stamped down the beach on her heels. Cynder crashed into clumps of seaweed, he heard Ace cussing at him while he slapped his paw at Pichu. Growling he smashed into a driftwood log.
Cynder went tumbling into a blue wad in the sand. His forehead stung and he was swimming in pain. Passing out finally Cynder laid there, Pichu kept screaming about what a cool game that was. While Cynder slept in a forced sleep Pichu continued to assault his ears with fried squid.
Ace was in a dark mood the rest of the night. Cynder had always listened to him before. It was mating season for the bulky brutes making them act strangely. He was worried if Draco would begin to act odd as well. It worried Ace. Had he been on his own he could always watch out for himself but, he had Nero and Laura with him.
Draco had his problems true. Driven by instinct Charcole had wrapped herself around him several times in a row the past few nights. Every time he thought he was going to mate her she fell into her memories. She tossed him away and spat flames at him.
Draco worried about his health and sanity took to sleeping in shallow tide pools minding to keep his tail flame clear of the water. His sides were sore from her kicks, his back screamed with pain of rough landings. His groin complained as well from the well placed kicks Charcole gave him this afternoon. He laid there for Chah knows how long! He blacked out from the pain and when he woke night had come without him knowing. Cole was there apologizing to him but, he just snarled and staggered eventually crawled his way here to the tidal pools.
He felt the cool water relax his bruises. He wasn't coming out of the water for anything. Even if Charcole tried to seduce him again. He floated happily at the moment. Then she landed on the rocky shore initiating mating calls. Draco watched her from one open eye.
Hissing he closed it and swam farther out knowing Cole's natural fears would keep her at bay. He had far too many embarrassing wounds than he cared to have for the time. Charcole was confused by nature's drives and her hellish experiences. Draco hoped the following year she would be willing to allow him into her heart.
His own drives were working on him as well but, somehow he was fighting them. His dreams were part of his resistance. He longed to decipher them but, couldn't.
From shore Cole was exposing her rear and lashing her tail as she crowed a charizard love song to him. Draco wanted to believe she was willing this time but, his injuries in tender areas reminded him that looks are deceiving.
Before dawn Charcole was out of breath. She slumped over to the sandy bend in the beach to sleep. The humans were relieved she grew fatigued in her courting efforts.
Snorlax slept as always undisturbed, the others snarled as she scrambled by. Ace had watched the dragons drift apart, he worried about Charcole. He had seen the wounds along her shoulders, legs, arms knowing how she acquired them. She would affect Draco soon if she hadn't already. Would he become dangerous?
Ace couldn't believe he was considering his oldest partner could grow perilous. He had no idea how any of this would change Draco but, it would affect him. Draco was waking frequently roaring, he spewed flames in the forest, he howled ungodly at dreams. Ace thought about the others, it would be time to leave them here soon.
Ace decided he would leave them here at the cabin. They would have food and shelter. He would be gone soon with the possible threats that might arise from Draco. He was tempted into pokéballing the reptile away until after the mating season but, that was unfair to Draco. After all Draco might give up on Charcole and top another female.
Draco woke shooting a column of fire. He dreamed not of his fantasies with Charcole but, of the charizard floating in the dismal blue world. He cried for salvation. He cried out for his...
"Son? My father!" Draco almost slapped his tail into the water.
This was impossible. His father? Draco never knew his father, this was some kind of trick! How would his father know his human given name. Draco didn't know his Chah name, yet he was sure it wasn't Draco.
"Draco! Draco! Please come here!" From the shore Drowxena beckoned him.
"Drow! What's wrong?" Draco glided through the water to her in seconds.
"Your dreams make sense. Yes, you opened my eyes to clarity!" Drowxena was worried. "You are growing my little one and soon you will learn many of life's lessons."
"Drow? Mind clueing me into what you are talking about?" He had one raised eyebrow and a bead of sweat trailing down his brow.
"Of course! Silly of me! Clarity brings adventure!"
