The Storm Begins Written By: Kitsune-chan (kitsune-chan@trust-me.com) Official Webpage: http://www.angelfire.com/pokemon/orG Note: There's some stuff at the end. It had been almost two weeks since their arrival back in Cerulean City. And the only times that Ash ever came out of his room was to eat. He wouldn't talk to anyone except Misty. Brock had dismissed it, thinking that he was just thinking about what he had discovered over the past week. One night Misty was woken up by someone tapping her cheek. She blinked the sleep out of her eyes and saw Pikachu there, lightly poking her cheek. "What is it Pikachu?" she asked softly, sitting up in her bed. She glanced over at Togepi who was sleeping, curled up on a pillow. "Pika." Pikachu whispered, then hopped down from the bed and went out the door. Misty got up and tiptoed after him. He led her just down the hall to Ash's room and paused beside the door which was slightly open. "What's going on Pikachu?" she whispered and Pikachu motioned for her to be quiet and to listen. Misty shut her mouth and tilted her head towards the door of Ash's room. There was a faint sound in there. Was Ash...crying? Without thinking, she pushed open the door and walked into the room and straight over to Ash's bed where he was curled up in a ball, tears running down his cheek. "What's wrong Ash?" she asked, her voice full of concern. "Nothing." Ash replied, turning away from her, "Go away." "Ash, what is wrong?" Misty asked again, a hint of annoyance in her voice. She turned and hopped on the bed and faced Ash. "I said, nothing was wrong." Ash repeated, "Now go away." "Ash Ketchem, I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what is wrong." Misty snapped, her patience gone and in its place frustration. "You're too stubborn for your own good." Ash sniffled. "Look who's talking!" Misty retorted. "Gimmie a mirror and I will." Ash replied. "Get your own. I'm not your slave." Misty sighed in defeat, backing away from the challenge. Ash looked surprised. He knew that Misty never backed away from a verbal arguement with him without a good reason. He looked in her eyes as saw sincerity in their blue-green depths. *Her eyes are like the ocean* he thought, *calm when she's in a good mood, stormy when she's in a bad one* Misty stared back at him, her eyes meeting his. Hazel stared into ocean-blue eyes, neither looking away. Then Ash blinked. "Fine." he sighed, "I'll tell you what happened. It was a dream I had." "Was it a bad dream?" Misty asked softly. "Yeah." Ash muttered, "I don't know how it started, but I only know this part; you were there, and my dad was hoolding a gun to your head. I was trying to get him to stop but he said to give him all of my Pokémon, or he would kill you. Then I woke up and you came in." "Oh." Misty said, not knowing anything else to reply, "can you get back to sleep now?" "I guess." Ash replied, looking at Misty again. "Well...good night..." Misty said as she got up and started to walk out the door. But Ash called to her before she left, "Misty?" "Yeah, Ash?" she turned back to face him. "Thanks for listening to me." he said. Misty smiled gently at him, "you're welcome." "Hey Misty, we're, like, gonna go shopping now, like okay?" Daisy said as she poked her head into Misty's room. Misty looked up from her book, "Fine. Who's going?" "Me, Lily, Violet and Brock." she replied. Misty snickered, then composed herself again, "just don't take him into any women's clothing boutiques or you'll never get him to leave." "Whatever. Just don't forget to answer the phone." Daisy replied as she left the room. A few minutes after Daisy left, Ash came to the door dressed in swim trunks and a black t-shirt. In his hands were his six Pokéballs. "Hey, Misty?" he called. "Yeah, Ash?" she asked, putting down her book. "Do you wanna go swimming?" he asked, putting his Pokéballs on her bed. "Sure." Misty agreed, then turned to Ash, "have anymore nightmares?" "Nope." Ash replied, "I'll wait for you down by the pool." he then turned and left, shutting the door behind him. Moments later, Misty was wearing a blue two-piece bathing suit and was carrying two fluffy, white towels. She had left Togepi sleeping on her bed and a walkie-talkie-type thing to tell her when he woke up. She turned left and walked down a hallway and pushed open the door at the end of it. She stepped onto the tiled floor and dropped the towels on a nearby chair. She glanced towards the pool and saw Ash swimming and Pikachu cautiously staying away from the edge of the pool. "Hey Ash!" she called as she walked to the edge of the pool. "Hi Mist!" he said, calling her by his nickname for her. He took a breath and swam over to where she was standing. He popped out of the water suddenly and sprayed her. "Hey!" Misty cried indignatley as the cold water showered over her. "What's the matter?" Ash asked with a teasing grin, "I thought you loved water." "You're gonna pay for that!" Misty cried, diving in the water. "I'm so scared." Ash said as Misty resurfaced. "Pika!" Pikachu called out as he heard the telephone ring. "Great." Misty grumbled, "probably AT&T or Bell calling to see if we want to switch to them." "Why don't you just let it ring?" Ash suggested. "I would, but Daisy told me to answer it if it rang." Misty replied, hoisting herself onto the deck of the pool. She turned to Pikachu, "Pikachu, can you go and check on Togepi for me?" "Pika." Pikachu nodded and scampered off, to see what Togepi was up to. Misty grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her waist. She walked through the door and to the phone. Ash swam around for a while, before getting out and sitting on the side. He wiped the water off his face and decided to wait for Misty. Moments later, he heard heavy footsteps. He smiled, "Misty? Is that you?" he asked. "It's not Misty." a vaquely familiar female voice said. Ash turned around to see two shadowed figures. One female with twin comet-tails for hair and the other was defintely male, with short hair. "Cassidy? Butch?" Ash asked in shock. "You put us in jail, you little brat." Cassidy hissed, her violet eyes narrowing as she stepped out of the shadows. "Now you're gonna pay." Butch finished as he stepped out of the shadows. Ash reached for a Pokéball at his waist, but realized that he had left his Pokéballs in Misty's room. He looked around in helpless dismay. The he smiled as he spotted the walkie-talkie. He lunged for it, but Cassidy tripped him before he could reach it. "Nice try, brat." she snarled as she yanked him to his feet. Ash tried to strugle free, but evidently, the older girl had the advantage over him. Soon he stopped struggling, then, "My father won't be too happy if he finds out you've killed me." he said quietly. "And who's your father? Our boss?" Cassidy laughed. "Oh, we're not gonna kill you." Butch smiled, well, you couldn't say he smiled, it was actually more of a smirk. "We're just gonna take you to our boss." Ash smiled at that, "Fine. Take me to your boss then. You'll be in deep trouble." "And why?" Cassidy asked, recovering from her laughing fit. "Because he's my father." Ash replied. "Yeah, right." Butch said, "now give us all you Pokémon." "I don't have them!" Ash cried in pain as Cassidy twisted his arm. "Yeah, and I'm the leader of the Elite Four." Cassidy said sarcastically. "I said, give us all your Pokémon!" Butch said, his face twisting into an angry mask. "And I said, I don't have them!" Ash yelled. "That's it." Butch snarled. His right hand balled into a fist and went flying towards Ash's head. Before he could duck, Ash was hit by the full force of the angry Butch's fist. His world spun around, then went black. "I'm coming, I'm coming." Misty grumbled as she quickly walked towards the phone (regular, not a video-phone), now on its thirteenth ring. "Whoever's calling, they must be really determined." she picked up the phone and held it to her ear, "Cerulean Gym, Misty Waterflowers speaking." There was a long pause on the other end, then finally, "Do you know where your boyfriend is?" "Excuse me?" Misty asked. This certainly wasn't the normal run-of-the-mill sale-pitch. "You heard what I said." the voice snarled. "He's swimming." Misty replied cautiously. "I think you should go check on him." the voice said menacingly. "Listen, I'm hanging up now." Misty said and started to replace the reciever on the hook. "Don't you dare hang up on me, little girl." the voice warned. Misty ignored it and hung up. She started back to the pool, but the phone rang yet again. "Hello?" she asked, picking it up. "I told you not to hang up on me." the voice said. "Who is this?" Misty demanded. "You don't need to know my name." the voice said mysteriously. "What do you want?" Misty asked nervously. "Where's your boyfriend?" the voice asked. "I told you, he's swimming." Misty said, exasperated. "I think you should go check." the voice replied, then hung up. "Weirdo." Misty muttered, then walked back to the pool. When she got there, she looked around for Ash, but discovered he wasn't there. "Ash?" she called out, cautiously stepping near the edge of the pool. "Ash, this isn't funny." she called out, on the verge of tears. She was really worried about Ash. She rand towards the doors of the changeroom and knocked on it. There was no answer. She turned and fled up to Ash's room. It was empty. In turn, she checked all of the rooms of the Cerulean Gym. All were empty of Ash. Then she ran back downstairs to the phone and picked it up. She pressed the 'recall' button and it dialed the number that had called her. "I told you he wasn't swimming, didn't I?" the voice said as soon as it picked up. "What do you want with him?" Misty asked, tears threatening to overwhelm her. "I want Mewtwo. Bring him to me in three days and Ash will be returned unharmed." the voice said, then hung up. Misty held on to the phone for a long time, before finally hanging up. She sat limply in the chair behind the counter and buried her face in her hands. "Oh, Ash..." she sobbed uncontrollably. She stayed there for a long time. She didn't even look up as the doors opened. "I like, totally, love my new blouse!" Daisy exclaimed enthusiastically as she, Lily, Brock and Violet entered the Cerulean Gym. Then she noticed Misty. Dropping her shopping bags, she ran to her youngest sister, "Oh my God! Misty, what's wrong?" she asked. "Yeah, what happened Misty?" Lily asked. "It's...Ash..." Misty whispered through her tears. "What happened to him?" Brock asked gently. "I don't know! He's gone!" Misty cried. "Gone where?" Violet asked. "He's just gone!" Misty said. "Where?" Daisy asked. "I..think he was kidnapped." Misty sniffled. "By who?" Lily asked worridly. "Someone who wants Mewtwo." Misty said, "the person on the phone said to bring Mewtwo to him in three days and Ash would be returned unharmed..." she whispered, repeating what had been told to her. BTW: Didja notice that Misty didn't deny that Ash was her boyfriend? Also, how the heck are they supposed to get Mewtwo?
