Pokemon Movies info

Here's some info about the 4 Pokemon movies there are known to date. I appologise for anything I left out, some of the movies I've seen years ago and some weren't released yet. Also, I kinda ignore the opening parts, you know, Pikachu's movies etc. They are just stupid and boring if you ask me. Sorry for the lack of pictures!

Pokemon: The first movie (Mewtwo strikes back)

The plot: Giovanni's scientists make a clone of the rare Pokemon Mew, it's stronger and has extraordinary psychic powers and it's called MewTwo. But angry Mewtwo refuse to except the fact that he's nothing but an experiment and he destroys the lab and escapes. He invites the best Pokemon trainers to battle him and his army of Super-Pokemon clones, and of course Ash is among them. When the twerps, along with the other trainers, try to fight Mewtwo, he wins and take all their Pokemon in order to make more clones. When Pikachu is taken too Ash holds on to its Pokeball and manage to sabotage the clone-machine and free the real Pokemon, almost getting killed in the process. The real Pokemon battle the super-clones while Mewtwo fights rare Mew, and finally beaten by it.

Team Rocket's role: They don't affect the plot at all, they basically watch on the side and sometimes find out and show us first hand information before the twerps knows about it.

My thoughts of the movie: Nice movie, I've seen it many times and it has its moments. not enough Team Rocket unfortunately but Ash came out pretty tough.

Pokemon:2000 (Phantom Pokemon X: Revelation Lugia)

The plot: a villanous Pokemon-collector sets himself a goal to capture the three legandary birds: Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno. After he catches them, nature disasters occure just as written in an ancient prophecy. Ash finds out that he is a part of the prophecy- the saviour of the world. With the other twerps and a new girl, Melody, he searches the special crystal balls the he needs to have in order to follow the prophecy and save earth. He also arises another legandary bird- Lugia, which fights the legandary birds and helps to restore the peace. At the end, Team Rocket are the one to help Ash even if that means sacrificing themselves. But not to worry- of course nobody dies and everything falls into place.

Team Rocket's role: They appear a little less than the 1st movie, but their role is more active and significant as they travel along with the twerps and eventually help Ash at a crucial moment.

My thoughts of the movie: A good movie but it just didn't move me. Still not enough Team Rocket and even Ash was kind of led by Melody and the weird prophet instead of leading and making decisions as usual. The best thing about the movie is the soundtrack- "Lugia's song" is one of the best pieces I've ever heard.

Pokemon 3rd movie (Lord of the Unknown tower)

The plot: Prof. Hale has been working on learning the secrets of the mysterious Unown (Unknown)- a Pokemon shaped like the letters on the alphabet which has the power to read one's thoughts and dreams and make them a reality. While working on his project Prof. Hale is pulled into another world just like his wife was a few years earlier, leaving his daughter Molly alone, wishing that her father will return. The Unown read her dreams and cover the Hale mansion in colossal crystal walls, creating a dream-world for her. They send Entei- a Pokemon that Prof. Hale used to read Molly about before disappearing, as her father and she calls it "papa". Molly starts missing her mother but the Unown don't send her real mother back. Instead they send the loyal Entei to bring Ash's mom, Delia, who Molly met as a baby, to the mansion and Molly mistakenly thinks Delia is her mother. After his mom's been kidnapped, Ash sets out to rescue her, fighting the powerfull Unown and Entei that persistently keep Molly and her happy reality from beeing disturbed. Finally Ash manages to break the Unown spell, rescue his mother and bring back Molly's parents.

Team Rocket's role: Minimal. They hardly appear and they don't affect the plot. I can hardly remember what DID they do in the movie.

My thoughts of the movie: I loved it. Even the lack of Team Rocket and the very annoying Delia and Molly (What a horrible little girl!) didn't ruin the fun for me, so you can imagine. Very intense, Ash is back to beeing the man here and it's all just great.

Pokemon 4th movie (Celebi a timeless ancounter)

It wasn't aired yet, so all the info I have here is half facts and half rumors. Also, the names are japanese.

The plot: A boy named Yukinari rescues the rare Pokemon Celebi, which has powers to travel in time, from a hunter. Yukinari is flown in time 40 years to the future and arrives to our time- the twerps time. Ash and the twerps are going on a boad ride to the near forest, while Bisashu, a Rocket member from the future (not Jessie and James' son!) is out to capture Celebi. The twerps arrive to the same place where Yukinari saved Celebi 40 years ago and meets a woman, Maki, and he daughter Miku, and as she explains Yukinari's disappearance, Yukinari and Celebi appear, but Celebi flies away. They later find Celebi and return to Mika, who says that there's a lake that can save Celebi with its pure water and Ash goes to find it. He meets Bisashu who wants to take Celebi and fights him while Team Rocket realise who he is. Eventually Ash and Yukinari find the lake and Celebi swims in it and heals. When they head back, Bisashu appears and capture Celebi... and Jessie too. So the twerps are set to rescue Celebi and James and Meowth join, hoping to rescue their Jessie. Bisashu tries to stop them using Celebi's powers but Suicune helps them, and Celebi gets sick and needs pure water again (what's up with that?!). All seems lost but at the end a whole pack of Celebi appear and help the sick Celebi. Maki and Miku with their angry Pokemon stop Bisashu while James and Meowth save ungrateful Jessie, and Celebi takes Yukinari back to the past.

Team Rocket's role: I guess the writers will find a way to show them as little as possible. But you can't ignore Jessie's significant part in the plot and James' distress when she's kidnapped. Maybe there will be some shippiness there, but I wouldn't count on heart breaking scenes. We already know that Jessie is ungrateful and not so loving when James rescues her. Well, typical.

My thoughts of the movie: It sounds like a pretty cool movie, but then again, Pokemon:2000 sounded great too because of all the awaited shippy moments that were ruined. We'll just wait and see.

Rumors are that there will be a whole-Rocket movie. And there is definately another movie following the 4th movie. I just hope we get to see it, because the growing lack of interest in Pokemon might prevent the 4th and the 5th movies from arriving the US. I hope not.
