"It was him! Gabriel, I swear it was." Gabriel Strong sat quietly, watch Darien Brooks pacing anxiously back and forth across the bedroom. "Darien," he reached out, grasping her hand and pulled her down beside him on the small bed. "How do you know it was him? You've never seen him. Nobody has. And here of all places? Paterson, Georgia? Come on, this town has what, 300 people?"
Darien sat quietly, staring at her hands clasped tight in her lap. Then, slowly she raised her head and looked directly at Gabriel. "It's him Gabe. He's the one we've been looking for; the one we've waited for all this time. I feel it. The minute he looked at me. It was like…it was like this tidal wave of power just crashed over me." Her eyes grew brighter as she explained to Gabriel what she had felt in the classroom that morning. When she was finished Darien lay back on the bed, looking up at the nite sky through the small skylight the bedroom ceiling. "So we have the third…or we think we know he's the third." Gabriel's quiet voice broke through the silence. Darien smiled and pulled him down to lay beside her. "It was…it IS him Gabriel. And now we only need the fourth and we'll be whole again. We'll finally be complete again."
She leaned over and softly pressed her lips against the base of Gabriel's throat, smiling as he moaned at the light contact. His fingers travelled slowly along her side, slipping under the bottom of her shirt as her kisses grew harder. "Darien…" Gabriel bit his lip as he felt her tongue gently circling his adam's apple. "Darien stop…we can't…you know we have to wait…" He felt a flash of disappointment course through him, not sure if it was his own emotion or hers as her lips gave him one more kiss; then pulled away from him. Darien lay on him, resting her chin on her folded arms that lay across his chest. Slowly he ran his fingers along her cheek, watching her eyes sparkle with excitement and desire. But also knowing that the desire wasn't necessarily for him alone. Darien had power, she had a large amount of power.
But she wanted more.
