Nick awoke to a dark room. The only light being a tall flickering candle far from him. It was growing dim, so he could barely see at all. His senses told him that this wasn't his room, it wasn't his house.
Nick sat up surprised at how groggy he felt. He felt as if his mind were in a box, or some sort of haze. As much as he wanted to lay back down and sleep, he knew he couldn't. He had to find a way out of this room. Nick stood up quickly and then had to sit back down. His legs were so weak. Nick took a deep breath and realized the air was very damp, smelled a little old as well.
Nick stood up again and just as he took one step the door opened. First Nick saw a hand. Stepping back, Nick decided to sit back down before he fell. Suddenly he was face to face with the most beautiful, yet eerie looking girl he'd ever seen.
"Sit Nickolas. We must talk. It is time for you to understand." Her eyes peered at him. For a moment, Nick could have sworn he saw them flicker almost 3 different colors. One right after the next.
Nick swallowed deeply, "I want to leave."
The girl moved closer to him, "And you will, once you are told everything and understand." She smiled a little and pushed back her long dark hair. "Do not be afraid. For in time, it will be you we shall be afraid of."
Nick couldn't understand. What could he possibly do? Nick's face shown obvious confusion. Before he could even speak, she placed a surprisingly warm finger on his lips, "Do not speak. Save your energy. Sleep. It's what you need now."
Even though he knew he should fit it, he couldn't. Nick layed back, his eyes closing and reopening continuously, trying to keep focused on her.
She smiled, "My dear Nickolas, so young, so innocent." She kissed him very lightly on the lips. "I am so glad we found you."
Nick felt himself smiling lightly and closed his eyes. For some strange reason he felt safe.
Within moments, Nick fell asleep peacefully. The girl still sitting at his bedside.
