The Poetry of Yesterday.....

Hero (14)

You were my role model

You were my friend

I thought that our friendship

Would last to the end

But you proved me wrong

On that fateful day

You swore in my face

And then walked away

I now keep my distance

Just like I should

If only you’d talk to me

How I wish you would

Of course, no relief

For me or my pride

I can’t now say sorry

I’ve already tried

However, you’re still my hero

Too perfect to be true

When I think, I realize

I’ll never be you

Has a year been long enough?

Will I be forgiven?

Must our worlds remain apart?

Will we stay riven?

But no, I gain your contempt

Your haughty laughs, your stares

And whenever I am near you

A smile from you is rare

I can’t make you accept me

I can’t even try

Through blood and sweat I’ve tried in vain

But I’d as soon die

Before I gain a smile

A laugh, a nod, a grin

Again maybe you’ll talk to me

A friendship shall begin

This will never happen though

My Hero, you have gone

I’ll be alone, now, tomorrow

And forever on

Memento for a woman who has lost her husband (14)

You don’t know how sad I’ve been for you

Over the months and years.

I’ve wondered if you’re happy, and yes,

I have shed many tears.

I can remember, you used to tell me,

You always loved the sky.

Now you’re up there looking after me.

It just makes me want to cry.

But up there surely, it’s happy because

The grass is green, the sky is blue.

I just can’t wait, my loved one

Until I can share it with you.

So I am sad, but you are happy.

I put on a brave face, and a smile.

I’m glad you see, I’ll come too, just wait

Not forever, just a while.

All the people were so sad that you went

I was sad as well.

But if you’re happy, then I am.

But that’s not all I have to tell.

My love for you has crossed even

The barrier of death and life.

So I’ll be there, count on it.

From me, your loving wife.

My Thoughts(12)

What is new?

What is old?

Speak to me

Your secrets told

Speak of Summer

And of Spring

And of Winter

When the birds don’t sing
