Thinking Of You At Christmas

To my husband I write to you on Christmas Day

To let you know you are missed in so many ways

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you

My heart around the Holidays just feels so blue

I look at all the decorations and my eyes swell up with tears

Because we were a part of each other for so many years

I listen to the Christmas songs that are played

But they too are a reflection of the memories together we made

I know you are celebrating Christmas in your new home above

And I am surrounded by our families love

But a piece of me is missing and it always will

For my heart grieves for you still

The Holidays get tougher from year to year

And even though in my heart I know you are near

I just long to feel your hand in mine

And see your smile that made my world shine

I long to hear your laughter that was sweet music to my ears

And to feel your embrace that washed away my fears

I wish for all of these things and I wish for a lot more

But all I have now are memories that are safely stored

Away in my heart for my eyes only

Not just when I feel sad, empty or lonely

Merry Christmas my love

Just wanted to let you know around the Holidays you are whom I’m thinking of.
