Dreams

She yawns a stentorian yawn and sleepily rubs her straining eyes
Her blanket falls gently from her shoulders down to her thighs
Taking from her the warmth it once so generously provided
The air she breathes is no longer pleasant, but dry and arid
Gone is the romantic world in which she was living
Gone like the dew on the blades of grass in the morning
She sits upright and alone on her bed
and sees images of her vanished lover within head
Her silent tears turn to dust and dissolve into the air
Reminding her of things that were never really there
She sighs a breath of pain, love, and sorrow
and hopes that her lover will return to her tomorrow

COMMENTS
Dreams are a consequential thing. They can give you the world, then take it away in a heartbeat.
