Looking Good

A few years ago
I met him briefly
Seemed like a common man
In charge of a religious center.

Now he's all dressed up
Hiding his human frailties
Behind a hard garb
But says I look familiar.

Full of self-righteousness,
A subtle holier-than-thou attitude
Is he being courteous in public life
Only to shine his political throne?

With books, degrees and a narrow scope
How is such a career chosen?
Power and fame is a curse
Bandaging-in old wounds and insecurities
